The Role:
Manages the day to day activities of assigned personnel in the Rotating Equipment Section of Mesaieed Department to ensure proper utilization of manpower and equipment as well as provision of an efficient service to the Operations Department. Monitors work performance of subordinates through regular meetings. Ensures that such works are done on time and in a safe and economical manner.
Manages overall planned maintenance, troubleshooting, major overhaul, condition monitoring, preparation of OSR, spare parts, contract scope of work for activities relating to major rotating equipment within Gas Operations Facilities. Ensures good custody and integrity of plant asset of major rotating equipment.
Forecasts and controls the rotating equipment operation budget, negotiates and manages service contracts (gas turbines, process compressors, turbo-expanders, centrifugal pumps, axial compressors, diesel engines, etc). Provides expert and technical support in all aspects of maintenance and trouble-shooting of rotating equipment. Provide technical support assistance to Qatari staff and developees.

1. Manages the day-to-day rotating equipment maintenance activities, and advising Management on technical matters and problems arising from plant breakdowns, and defects found during planned maintenance.
2. Manage the review of technical specification for major modification activities of all rotating equipment
3. Manages the development and implementation of condition monitoring system for all rotating equipment within Gas Operations area.
4. Manages the preparation of OSR and spare parts requirements for rotating equipment.
5. Manages and monitors the major rotating equipment maintenance budget.
6. Manages the preparation of contract Scope of Work regarding overhauling and refurbishments of major insurance components for major rotating equipment.
7. Manages the adequate levels of spare parts and materials and reviews levels based on maintenance histories of major rotating equipment to ensure reasonable and cost effective inventory.
8. Reviews and approves purchase requisitions.
9. Evaluates technically tenders received for supply of material, and advises on purchases.
10. Manages the identification, coordination and preparation of detailed work scope for scheduled major rotating equipment shutdown and strategy for timely execution and completion of all shutdown works.
11. This activity involves directing a multi-crafted work force on diverse works on complex rotating equipment and machinery and calls for a high degree of vigilance to ensure safety during the process plant turnarounds as also during start up's.
12. Participates in preparing and reviewing of QP standards and philosophy related to rotating equipment and condition monitoring.
13. Provides Reliability engineering support and technical expertise with optimization of machine integrity, minimization of machine failures.
14. Insures the reliability, availability and integrity of multi-billion of rotating equipment within the operating plants.
15. Manage and controls assigned annual budget of more than QR 40 Million and ensures that expenditure is in line with Business Plan
16. Manages technical support for EPC contracts in issues related to rotating equipment
17. Manage the review studies aimed to convert major equipment maintenance strategy form time based to cost effective condition based.
18. Manage the review of rotating equipment failure reports aimed to determine failure root cause and recommend actions to eliminate them in the future.
19. Evaluates the effectiveness of the existing condition monitoring plan and suggest ways to promote it.
20. Provides advisory services on the area of expertise, suggests modifications based on the review of equipment condition monitoring data gathered to enhance equipment reliability.
21. Implements QP's safety policy with regard to Corporation employees and contract personnel.
22. Holds regular safety meetings within the section, advises staff on safety related queries which they may have.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
BSc. in Mechanical Engineering plus relevant specialist courses in gas turbines / major centrifugal compressors, operation/maintenance/condition monitoring and reliability engineering
2. Minimum twelve (12) years experience in the maintenance, overhauling, condition monitoring, and troubleshooting of all types of rotating equipment related to the oil / gas and petrochemical industry, with at least 4 years in petrochemical industry.
3. Sound knowledge in mechanical engineering with proven track record in a leading petrochemical company
4. Experience in overhauling, trouble-shooting, vibration analysis and condition monitoring techniques of rotating equipment.
5. Computer Literate and use of a computerized maintenance management system and assets condition monitoring system
6. Effective communication and good technical reports
7. Team leadership and ability to guide and motivate subordinates
8. Team player
9. Speaks and writes English fluently
