Our global leading client is seeking highly skilled, experienced & capable contract international employees to work on a large multinational complex oil & gas project.

The Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Team Leader accountable for ensuring that competent and practical strategy, direction and advice is provided in a timely and effective manner to avoid or minimize safety risks and business disruption.

The post holder will be engaged in frequent and intensive interaction with Operations, Wells, Resource, Exploration and PSCM leadership and will influence key decision makers across the organization in Azerbaijan. The post holder will also be required to effectively engage with and positively influence other internal and (potentially) external stakeholders to ensure their understanding of and commitment to effective implementation of AGT Region’s Health and Safety management systems and processes.

Key accountabilities include, but are not necessarily limited to:

Manage Health and Safety Specialists / Subject Matter Experts to ensure that they deliver a timely and effective service to Operations, Wells, Resource, Exploration, PSCM. The H&S Specialists cover several disciplines including: incident investigation, Safety Management Systems, hazardous materials, TAR HSE, Resource HSE, and human factors.
Ensuring that all guidance provided to operations complies with requirements including Group and Segment requirements and AGT Health and Safety procedures and is concise, compliant and unambiguous.
Oversee the provision of technical safety input into AGT Region planning and risk management processes
Ensuring that appropriate technical input is provided for the maintenance of Tier 2 Safe Systems of Work and other procedures relevant to the above disciplines.
Coach team members and support their continuing professional development
Provision and oversight of technical safety expertise for incident investigation
Identify lessons learned and ensuring they are shared as appropriate, and support others in identifying lessons learned by providing relevant technical input.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety performance.
Maintain a network of peers to ensure a comprehensive knowledge of current industry safety practices and support other team members to do likewise.
Provide technical resources to conduct and support safety audits and inspections

Regular offshore and onshore site visits will be required as a part of this role.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Minimum of 15 years experience in an operational and/or safety role, with a minimum of 10 years in the Oil & Gas E&P sector, with at least four years offshore. If the candidate has an operations background at least 5 years experience in a safety position must be demonstrated.
An internationally recognized professional qualification in Health & Safety.
Experienced in the design, implementation and supervision of Safe Systems of Work offshore.
Strong managerial, communication and team work skills. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills, able to engage with and effectively influence site personnel and senior management
Thorough knowledge and familiarity with E&P industry HSE Policies, Standards, Practices and Guidelines.
Extensive experience in offshore incident investigation.
Proven team leadership experience in an organization of similar scope and complexity to AGTR.
Strategic thinker, able to anticipate and prepare for longer term change.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Comprehensive understanding of offshore and marine safety specifically; lifting, incident investigation, Control of Work, hazardous materials management and human factors.
