Our Client is an International Oil and Gas Operator involved in 2 of Australia's largest LNG Projects based in Western Australia. The Role:
A New position has arisen for a Health and Safety Superintendent to join on a 12 month contract on a 28/28 roster. The Health & Safety Superintendent acts as a key contact for Safety, Health, Environmental, and Emergency Response issues related to the transition period between Construction and Operation for the Gorgon Project on Barrow Island including Commissioning.

This position builds and maintains relationships with off-island transition teams to proactively identify and resolve implementation gaps. This individual will also work with the BWI H&S Commissioning Manager to ensure continuity between rotations.

This position must provide connection and continuity between off-island and on-island groups including Upstream Operations, and Gorgon Downstream as well as the EPCM.
• The BWI Health & Safety Superintendent acts as the BWI SME for the relevant Safety Cases (3), ensuring that Safety Case requirements are appropriately mapped to BWI construction activities. This position champions change management of HES processes and identifies changes in risk profile related to simultaneous operations (i.e., startup of General Utilities and Ready for Start Up).This position provides BWI risk mitigation strategies and specific mitigation plans. This includes required changes to LNG Plant and Marine emergency response.
• The BWI Health & Safety Superintendent champions development of strategic direction of and implementation for the company's Operational Excellence and EPCM's Health & Safety processes within the Gorgon Project on BWI. This includes specifically the Fatality Prevention process.
• The BWI Health & Safety Superintendent also manages the following site-wide functions within the BWI Health & Safety organization: industrial hygiene and motor vehicle safety. This includes supervision of two (2) specialist positions.
• The Gorgon Project on Barrow Island includes the construction of three LNG trains in a 300 hectare foot print with supporting marine transportation facilities in a Class A Nature Reserve. The construction site will transition from a “green field” to “brown field” status as utilities and plant operations are started up in 2014. At peak, the Gorgon Project will employee and house in excess of 6000 workers with potential risks associated with marine operations, cranes/lifting/rigging, work at height, and simultaneous operations. More than 20 principal contract companies are being managed on Barrow Island.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or relevant applied sciences desired
• Preferred candidate would have 10-15 years of experience working on large grassroots petro chemical projects in the Health & Safety discipline, including Commissioning.
• WA North West experience would be beneficial.
• Must be able to engage with site management, contractor management, site supervision and the workforce constructively to ensure a safe working environment.
• Experience in Emergency Management/Response is desirable.
• Fluent in Australia H&S regulations and Safety Case methodology.
• The candidate should be a self-starter.

• Strong written and verbal skills.
• Demonstrated Risk Management skills.
• Able to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks including diverse types of work.
• Strong problem solving skills.

• Individual HES certifications (i.e., CIH) will factor in selection.
