Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
Main Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to develop and implement a Health and Safety management system and associated tools that meet legislative and company requirements. This includes providing H&S assurance, support and advice to the business to enable the effective implementation of the H&S management system, utilising best practice coupled with legislative and corporate governance compliance. The role also entails enabling the building of a strong and proactive H&S culture throughout the organisation facilitating continuous improvement and cultural change.
1. Development and implementation of the H&S Management System in accordance with Group standards to include -
a) Design of management system
b) Develop processes and procedures
c) Review of H&S risks
d) Review effectiveness of controls
e) Education to encompass design and delivery of training, information and materials in order to raise awareness in H&S and facilitate cultural change
f) Support the business in implementation

2. Development and implementation of an assurance framework to include -
a) Develop assurance framework and schedule
b) Develop audit tools and processes
c) Co-ordinate audit programme
d) Provide feedback to the business and support the development of improvement plans
e) Review system and implement changes as appropriate

3. OHSAS18001 implementation plan
a) Develop implementation plan for the achievement of OHSAS18001 certification
b) Undertake gap analysis against the standard
c) Align the H&S Management System to the standard
d) Provide education, information, instruction and support to the business

4. Tools, processes and management information
a) Develop and deploy smart IT solutions (such as e-learning) for learning and development and the management of
b) Provide monthly management reporting and trend analysis

5. Build and maintain relationships at all levels
a) Identify key stakeholders and build relationships and influence
b) Champion change
c) Provide leadership, direction and drive for continuous improvement
d) Coach line leaders


• Experience of implementation of Management Systems- i.e. OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001
• Experience of Health and Safety Auditing
• Experience of web based Health and Safety e learning tools and incident/event management systems
• Experience of training delivery
Systems & processes
• Fully conversant with Microsoft Office with a high level of keyboard skills and accuracy
• Knowledge of development and implementation of HSG65 and OHSAS 18001H&S Management system, ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
• Knowledge of theory and practical implementation of cultural change programmes
• Knowledge of H&S risk mitigation and control strategies
• Knowledge of assurance frameworks and audit principles
• Ability to undertake detailed analysis / research
• In depth knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and any developments that may affect the business
• Good communications skills – verbal and written
• Ability to train/present/communicate technical / complex matters to a diverse range of audiences
• Ability to work autonomously and determine own work schedule
• Ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Willingness to adapt/be flexible and to support other duties that may arise within the team
• Maintaining continual personal development to ensure professional currency


• A recognised H&S qualification such as a NEBOSH Diploma / degree or suitable equivalent
• Chartered member of IOSH
• Degree
• Auditor qualification preferable
