Our client is a leading global oil and gas operating company.

The Role:
The Health Promotion Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of Health Promotion and Wellness programming for employees and their family members (where applicable), and may include Client’s contractor personnel within Company Alaska Operations. The Specialist will be involved in health risk identification and mitigation as well as identifying effective reporting and evaluative tools of all health and wellness program services to improve health, personal safety and business performance. Additionally, the Specialist will provide input on strategic and program planning, and North Slope program management as the greatest need and health risks are with the remote site personnel. Additionally, the Specialist will provide contractor staff oversight (e.g. health fair clientele). In order to provide cohesiveness to the Health and Wellness program, this position will serve as a back-up for the Health & Fitness Specialist duties as needed.


Will receive guidance and direction from the Company Health/Medical Team Leader (also serving as the Contract Accountable Manager), Medical Advisor, and Client Representative(s). Will interface with North Slope Medical staff and other members of the Client’s HSE Department.

E Develop individual Health Promotion and Wellness annual goals and objectives using HSE Performance Contract Health Objectives/Targets and Alaska’s Strategic Health Plan to support all Company Alaska Operations.
E Develop and implement Health Promotion and Wellness Programs/Activities to improve employee personal health and morale.
E Identify and Implement Appropriate Tools (e.g. Occupational Health Risk surveys, health assessments, culture and/or stress audits) to target specific health needs/concerns for education and program development.
E Interpret health and productivity data (e.g. med-evac data, new hire health related data, medical case management ICD9 trends, EAP) for program assessment, integration and evaluation.
E Plan and implement Client Health Fairs, screenings and evaluate effectiveness of both process and service delivery.
E Oversee Communications/Marketing surrounding HP program utilizing broadcast emails, elevator posters, webpage, bpHealth.com, and North Slope HSE boards (within Company facilities).
E Provide Ergonomic Assessments on mostly asymptomatic and low-risk personnel to reduce risk of musculoskeletal disorders.
E Conduct multiple Health Education Seminars annually.
E Provide personal Instruction and Guidance on Wellness, Nutrition, Lifestyle Coaching.
M Instruct educational classes (musculoskeletal health and injury prevention).
M Assist in establishing key program evaluation processes, implement, and utilize for continuous improvement; communicate to key stakeholders.
M Assists with fitness assessments and exercise prescriptions.
M Assist with the delivery of Group Fitness and Massage therapy services in the Anchorage Health & Fitness Center.
M Provide any administrative tasks required to carry out the health promotion program and provide direct support to the Client Representative and other internal customers (includes health fairs, class registrations, reporting, email communication, desk or bed drops, etc).
M Work with internship program providing primary orientation and educational experiences primarily, but not limited to, health promotion and health management.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Degree in related Health field, Master’s degree preferred;
• Five years experience in health promotion and wellness services, (two years, preferred, in a corporate setting);
• Strong interpersonal skills, and excellent, professional communication and leadership skills (verbal and written), as well as strong program planning skills for providing services in multiple/remote locations.
• CPR/AED certification;
• High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Front Page;
• Self motivated and able to travel to and work in Client remote locations.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:

• ACSM, CHES, CSCS, ACE or similar certification.
• Experience with fitness management software and data analysis software.
