The Company:
Our client is a global leader in the design and delivery of infrastructure, power and major engineering projects around the world. Their clients come to them for a wide range of advice, resources and skills - in engineering, maintaining infrastructure, managing construction, planning and strategic thinking.

The Role:
We are currently recruiting for a Highway Engineer, reporting to the Planning Manager / Project Controls Manager within our client's Surrey based office and is required to be capable of unsupervised work in providing designs in accordance with Network Rail and Highway Standards.

• Must have a fully working knowledge of DMRB and MCHW and be able to produce contract documentation and specifications in accordance with Network Rail procedures.
• Must have experience of road and rail interfaces.
• Must have experience in the production of traffic management layouts.
• Ability to provide drainage solutions and utility designs
• Use of Microstation and Projectwise is essential.

Accountabilities
1. Plan and prioritise the planning input to assigned projects, including where relevant the input of other planners, to ensure delivery is consistent and effective, meeting scope, time, cost and quality requirements.
2. Contribute to the planning strategy for assigned projects, so that the approach taken in each case is effective and appropriate to the project needs and client requirements
3. Set up the base line plan for assigned projects and monitor progress against this plan, so that any problems are recognised promptly
4. Report on progress and earned value, to support financial forecasting and any necessary corrective action
5. Proactively identify and highlight any progress issues which threaten successful delivery of the project, so that recovery action may be taken
6. Lead planning input to estimating and tendering activity on assigned projects, so that all relevant issues, actions and risk

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges
Knowledge of Manual of Contracts, Documents for Highway Works
Network Rail and Highway Standards
Microstation
Projectwise
