The Role:
Client is seeking a HIPS Dynamic Simulation Engineer to lead dynamic simulation studies to verify design and performance targets for High Integrity Protection Systems (HIPS) applied to both upstream and downstream process safety applications. The role will be working in the Process & Control Systems Department/Process Automation Systems Division. The Process Automation Systems Division offers engineering expertise in Custody Management, Process Instrumentation, HIPS, Plant Networks and Computing and Process Automation Systems. This position will be based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

Responsibilities to include the following: • Provide technical expertise as part of a multidisciplinary team charged with the design evaluation proposals for HIPS applications, technical oversight of HIPS design and verification of performance of the installed HIPS. • Lead the dynamic simulation of the process for various design alternatives to define the process safety time (PST) available for the HIPS to function and the associated HIPS trip set point. • Provide high level technical solutions to the design team with alternatives to meet system constraints (fortified zone piping, increased flowline diameter, reduced flow rates, etc.). • Perform technical studies in substantive corporate technical issues and prepare and present reports to technical and management personnel. • Serve as the corporate authority for dynamic simulation of HIPS process requirements and leverage your expertise to pioneer company's use of these technologies. • Review mega projects design and proposals.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
A minimum of 10 years field experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry, including leadership of dynamic simulation studies associated with the application of safety instrumented systems (ESD and HIPS). This will include a senior engineering role in the areas of upstream high pressure wellhead applications where HIPS were used to protect downstream equipment from overpressure. Expert knowledge of dynamic simulation/pipeline flow assurance software, including OLGA in support of HIPS applications. Knowledge of design alternatives to accommodate the response limitations of HIPS, including fortified zones in downstream flowlines, increased flowline diameters, reduced rates, etc. (participation in a deepwater riser study will be a plus). Must be knowledgeable with national and international safety standards; specifically the IEC, API, ASTM and NACE standards. Must have excellent written and verbal English skills with proven experience of writing dynamic simulation reports and pu
