The Role:
JOB SUMMARY (Major functions of the position)

The incumbent is responsible for performing payroll accounting and administrative duties to support the Payroll department including setting up payroll account codes, processing payroll certifications, setting up voluntary deductions, processing and auditing payroll, auditing payroll reports, processing tax forms and resolving payroll issues.

1.Performs all the duties of a payroll specialist, which includes not only processing pay, withholdings, and leave balances for various employee groups, but completing tasks associated with one or more payroll related expense and liability accounts. Ensures accurate accounting and reporting on all payroll related expense and liability accounts.
2.Monitors and updates payroll department/process procedures and contributes to development of college-wide payroll related policies and procedures.
3.Uses computer and software programs to input, maintain, research, and retrieve information. Participates in changes to the HR/Payroll system.
4.Completes tax reports. Stays current, complies with and provides interpretations on various rules, regulations, laws, contracts and policies. May work with government agencies, benefit providers, auditors and/or other staff to resolve problems and provide requested information.
5.Coordinates processing time and the actual printing of unscheduled manually issued payroll checks.
6.Coordinates, develops and maintains written documentation regarding payroll procedures and processes necessary for reference and training materials.
7.Performs other related duties or projects as assigned.
