The Company:
Our Client is one of the UK's leading suppliers of instrumentation for a diverse range of applications in the nuclear industry.

The Role:
• Hold the roles of Health & Safety Manager and Environment Manager as defined in the Business Management System (BMS) for all CUK sites.
• Interface with Magnox and implement any requirements imposed by them relating to the licensed nuclear site at Harwell.
• Be the ATO holder for the Category 3 nuclear facility (Bld 528.11) and ensure that all appropriate management processes are in place to meet Magnox / ONR requirements.
• Serve as the Magnox nominated Building Safety Coordinator.
• Ensure HSE initiatives and targets are achieved.
• Hold Harwell Magnox nominated roles of “Radioactive Material Coordinator” (for receipt and despatch of RAM), “Nuclear Materials Inventory Holder” (management of NM inventory) and “Nominated Source Holder” (management of RAM inventory).
• Serve as the Harwell “Fire Responsible Person” maintaining compliance with the Fire Risk Assessment.
• Liaise with customers and suppliers on matters relating to HSE and any issues arising and be responsible for all HSE compliance with an emphasis on the Sellafield and LLWR sites.
• Be responsible for HSE responses on bids and proposals.
• Monitor all Harwell site building maintenance issues and ensure they are dealt with in a prompt manner.
• Consult on IATA and radiological shipments as needed.
• Develop, implement and maintain processes to measure performance of the BMS against agreed metrics.
• Take responsibility for all specific activities allocated to the HSE Manager in the BMS.
• Monitor and communicate to management and staff any new or modified HSE standards required by external bodies and/or stakeholders, and integrate within the company’s BMS, as appropriate.
• Establish and implement strategies for continuous improvement and increased awareness of HSE issues across all departments within the company.
• Contribute to executive policy and strategy on matters relating to HSE.
• Create and maintain an internal audit process for HSE at all CUK sites.
• Assist the Security Manager in ensuring the security of CUK’s premises and radioactive material inventory is maintained and compliant with the requirements of the Security Plan.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum
• Good knowledge of HSE standards
• Experience working in a HSE related post (on a nuclear site and advantage)
• Good communicator
• Good organisational skills
• Internal and Supplier Audits training and/or experience
• IT literate
• Clean driving licence
