The Role:
The HSE Environmentap Adviser reports to HSE Department ad-hoc support.

Provides environmental expertise to Wells function from planning through to execution phase for drilling, completion/well intervention and plug & abandonment activities based in UKCS activities.
Exposure is a wide range of environmental legislation and permits required to operate in UKCS with teams and vessels working X border
Key role in Wells function - providing specialist advice to teams on the effective management of environmental and legislative risks, ensuring they are understood and mitigations or controls are put in place in a timely fashion.
The HSE Field Support accountabilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide environmental expertise to Wells onshore and offshore teams in NL from design through to execution activities to ensure environmental risks are identified, assessed and managed effectively.
• Support overall environmental permits preparation, revision, submission, approval, variation and reporting process in line with UK legal requirements.
• Focal point for Regulatory liaison with DECC, their advisors, other stakeholders and HSE for Wells NL, and key role to maintain positive reputation management interfaces.
• Key role in simplification of environmental guidance to Wells supervisors, providing awareness training on legal and internal environmental requirements to onshore and offshore staff.
• Monitor compliance with Legal and environmental requirements through participation in regular audits and site visits.
• Provide environmental input to Emergency Response requirements for Wells activities e.g. OPEPs.
Requirements:



Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor and/or Masters degree in Environmental/Science related discipline.
• Min. 5 years experience of working in Oil & Gas industry.
• Knowledge of UK Environmental Regulatory requirements. Main environmental legislation: EIA, OCR, OPPC, OPEP, FEPA, MARPOL, OPRC, Habitats Directive, RSA, MCAA.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 and EMS development.
• Excellent communication and Interpersonal skills – requirement for presentation and report writing skills.
• Excellent communication and Interpersonal skills – adhoc requirement for Wells NL representation in meetings with UK HSE and or DECC
• Self-motivated team player with ability and desire to take responsibility and drive workloads to effective resolution.
• Ability to work in a team environment but equally work independently and on own initiative.
• Able to proactively identify areas for improvement and change.
