The Company:
Our client is a nuclear specialist, covering both civilian and defence sectors, across the complete lifecycle from New Build, through Operations and Maintenance, to final decommissioning and waste disposal.

The Role:
To support projects teams in meeting the clients requirements and expectations in respect of safety performance and compliance with applicable H&S legislation.
The HSE Manager will report to Head of Assurance and liaise with Project Managers on a day to day basis, particularly with HSE managers responsible for site works on both projects.

Will maintain key working relationships with project team members and relevant members of the clients organisation. Will liaise with the corporate HSE manager and head of assurance as required. No direct reports.

Main Duties of HSE Manager:

Assist project managers in maintaining and improving HSE performance
Provide HSE support to relevant works planned and carried out on the projects
Provide HSE advice to the project teams to assist with the delivery of HSE aspects of their work and maintain a positive safety culture within the teams
Keep up to date with HSE procedure and ensure appropriate information is disseminated within the company. Ensure we present a positive image in HSE related dealings

You will have the implicit authority to halt any operations which are thought to present clear and imminent danger.
In the event of a major HSE event it is possible an element of responsibility would rest with the HSE Manager.
The direction of work is, for the most part, organised developed and delivered by the HSE Manager in agreement with senior members of the project teams.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
5-10 years nuclear experience on a licensed site
3 years occupational HSE experience
NEBOSH Diploma in H&S Management (or equivalent)
Graduate or chartered member of IOSH
Must also be SQEP to work as a SHE Practitioner
CSCS card
