The Company:
Our client, a worldwide E&P company is looking for a Well Engineering HSSE Manager for their corporate UK office in the South of England.

The Role:
Position Summary
-Provides HSSE leadership and direction to the Well Engineering Function on HSSE opportunities and threats, particularly Safety
-Provides assurance and governance to General Manager Well Engineering on cross-asset HSSE issues
-Challenges, assists and advises Assets with respect to HSSE risks and opportunities, Contributes to the development of Well Engineering HSSE standards and competency across the function

Key Accountabilities

-Deliver step-change HSSE performance improvements across company Well Engineering activities
-Develop and execute a well engineering focused HSSE improvement program that aligns with and builds on company corporate HSSE programs
-Investigate serious and high-potential well engineering incidents
-Advise Regional Well Engineering Managers and Asset Well Engineering Managers on HSSE-related issues
-Support and monitor the implementation of HSSE-related requirements and improvements arising from industry incidents
-Ensure full, open and documented reporting of HSSE incidents.
-Ensure that incident (internal and key external) learning points are suitably gathered and shared across all Group activities
-Build and maintain a community / network of Well Engineering HSSE practitioners
-Setup and run a system of HSSE reviews and audits. Take part in rig start-up audits. Contribute to HSSE assessments of contractors and suppliers in partnership with the Contracts & Procurement Well Engineering team
-Contribute to / review HSSE-related standards and competency development / assurance
-Proactively influence and contribute to corporate HSSE direction
-Advise Regional Well Engineering Managers on HSSE aspects of new-country entries, setup and selection of Well engineering HSSE staff and /or consultants
-Advise Well Engineering Managers on how to influence non-operators to improve their HSSE performance
-Maintain a watching brief on, and as a conduit to, industry bodies related to well engineering HSSE, eg The International Association of Oil & Gas producers (OGP), American Petroleum Institute (API), International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC), UK HSE, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) etc
-Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountabilities for HSSE, all managers are accountable for HSSE within their area of the Business and are responsible for ensuring that their team adopt exemplary HSSE behaviours.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
-Experience in several operational, technical, and managerial roles within the Well Engineering function gained ideally in an Operator environment
-Exposure to the full range of operating environments, location types and well types with an understanding of the business drivers of each
-Experience of the full Well Engineering lifecycle including workovers, well maintenance and abandonment activities
-Experience of HSSE leadership in a line or HSSE specialist role
-A degree-qualified (or equivalent) professional engineer
-Well Engineer with skills covering both design and operational activities
-HSSE knowledge, particularly on operational Safety
-A passion for people and their well-being in the workplace
-Exemplary personal HSSE behaviours and values
-Ability to influence, motivate, challenge and communicate at all levels of the organisation

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
