The Company:
Our client is a dedicated African energy company with an outstanding industry known leadership team having a track record of rapid and effective petroleum exploration and development in Africa. They have in-depth experience of the petroleum geology of Africa and has conducted a detailed review of hydrocarbon potential of the on and offshore basins of Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Role:
Functionally reporting to the Global Head of HSE. Line reporting to the relevant asset/country manager.

Offshore Drilling experience is a must and this role will be rotational in to Cameroon on a 28/28, some work in London may still be required.

Established HSE professional with a strong operational background and significant experience of managing HSE within the Oil & Gas industry. Degree educated, supported by a recognised Safety/Environmental qualification, and able to demonstrate a substantial track record of achievement in a similar role within an operator.

Broad based experience embracing upstream Oil & Gas, with sound understanding of the challenges involved in countries with less mature HSE cultures.
The primary focus for this position shall be to provide operational and HSEMS development support to the Cameroon Asset with potential opportunities to support other country activities within the company portfolio e.g. Morocco, Congo, Nigeria, Ethiopia, South Africa and Kurdistan.

The role shall be based in the client's London office with business travel to Cameroon and other operational areas as required. Place of work shall be the London office.

• Reviewing gaps in the Cameroon HSE Management System and prioritising areas for action. Ensuring that appropriate operational procedures are in place, communicated and implemented e.g. Emergency response, Medevac, Journey Management, incident reporting etc.
• Supporting the development and implementation of site specific HSEMS for logistic base and operations e.g. HSE plans, bridging documents etc.
• Provision of support to Asset Managers and overseas Operations Teams as needed.
• Ensuring that Risk Management processes and tools are developed and used to assess risk and to recommend controls to manage the risks. Participate in the assessment process and application of controls.
• Provide input to the Cameroon Field Development plan.
• Ability to evaluate and interpret legislative requirements and advise / influence accordingly.
• Contractor audits/inspections.
• Develop and maintain relationships with operations and function to provide support and give confidence in the corporate processes driving key HSE performance.
• Champion a culture of continuous improvement and building a culture of personal accountability and compliance with procedures.
• Assist in the management of incident and environmental reporting systems.
• Additional duties shall involve conducting any other task as assigned from time to time by the Global Head of HSE and Operational Managers. This may include:
- Development/revision and roll out of HSEMS in other operational countries
- Technical/project support to other operated activities.
- Conducting audits/inspections of other operated activities.
- Support to Corporate HSE MS Development
- Periodic audit and review of Contractors to assess the implementation of and compliance to Project policies, standards and management systems processes.
- Acting as a mentor / coach to personnel to increase the capabilities of the local workforce.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Educated to degree level preferably in a HSE, engineering or appropriate scientific discipline. Chartered or similar professional status from a Safety/Environmental body.
• Minimum 10 years oil industry experience, 5 of which should be in an HSE role.
• Development of HSEMS in small operating companies.
• Contractor management

• Knowledge/experience in Engineering, Production and Drilling advantageous

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• A further degree in a HSE related subject
