The Role:
To develop and maintain HSE systems which assure compliance to customer and regulatory HSE requirements.
To deploy the HSE vision and champion HSE improvement projects, share best practice and lead continuous improvement of HSE performance.
To assure appropriate day to day controls are in place to minimise risk by providing technical HSE advice to the site and supporting Project Management to address HSE aspects.
To develop the HSE organisation and promote a HSE culture where everybody is responsible for HSE
Maintain HSE governance systems, KPIs, audits etc and ensure all HSE incidents are adequately reported and investigated.

• Maintenance of an ISO 14001 system across product design, manufacturing and all business functions.
• Development and maintenance of systems which achieve HGS 65 and OHSAS 18001 across design, manufacturing and all business functions.
• Ensure Site activities comply with HS&E Legislation.
• Develop Policy and Guidance for ANES against legislative requirements
• Sit on the HSE legislative review group to identify emerging HSE legislations, make recommendations and implement action plans to assure compliance
• Maintain knowledge and understanding of Nuclear safety or other pertinent regulations, codes or standards

• Support the Site to achieve their Targets and Objectives through planning, monitoring and undertaking necessary HSE activities.

• Regularly review operational control and ensure risk management is effective, where necessary, support the Site develop robust assessments to meet legal compliance i.e. Risk Assessment, PUWER Assessment, Noise Mapping,

• Develop competency matrix for key HSE roles on Site
• Manage team priorities across Site.
• Develop and deliver internal HSE training and maintain approved training centre status for IOSH and CIEH
• Support managers maintain safe systems, providing specialist advice, coaching, toolbox talks etc
• Implement behavioural based safety program and initiatives.

• Assure HSE incidents are appropriately reported.
• Investigation of HSE incidents / accidents, deploying lessons learnt and action plans to prevent reoccurrence.
• Establish and maintain HSE audit and assessment process
• Support the management team, lead the Site monthly HSE & CAR Review

• When required provide support and deputise for the HSE Manager

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• 5 Years HSE Experience in a heavy Fabrication / Manufacturing / Construction / Civils environment.
• Excellent team management skills. A leader and developer of teams.
• A good influencer, somebody who is able to work effectively with cross functional colleagues and customers to achieve business goals.
• A self-starter, highly motivated: takes the initiative and able to work with minimum supervision.
• Experienced practitioner of ISO 18001 & 14001.
• Technically competent and able to use own initiative to provide solutions to problems.
• NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ level 5 or equivalent.
• Construction, on-site installation, facilities or maintenance management experience.
• Ability to deliver bespoke training courses.
• Ability to work from other location in the UK as required.
• Chartered IOSH Status or working towards CMIOSH.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Background in Nuclear industry
• ISO 1400 trained to NVQ level 4 or equivalent
• Approved IOSH, CIEH Trainer
• Construction Design Management ( CDM-C) experience.
• High level of competence in MS Office products
