The Role:
• Reinforce on a daily basis Incident and Injury Free Safety Culture for all onsite and offsite based construction and fabrication activities and maintain a sustainable safety culture on the project so that safety is a natural part of all work performed.
Project Execution.
Provide HSSE support to construction operations. Activities may include:
• Implementation of IACP HSSE Plans & project procedures.
• Ensure contractor meets all HSSE requirements of contract, correct any unsafe practices & make sure all personnel comply with PC standards & procedures.
• Monitor contractor compliance to IACP Standards, industry best practise, government policies, regulations & permit approvals (e.g. ESIA).
• Support contractor management with assessing site-specific risks associated with all operational activities.

• Posses a strong commitment to HSSE values and demonstrates such by example.
• Promote a high standard of HSSE behaviour with in the EPC Contractors organisation.
• Develop contractor line management HSSE awareness & ensure HSSE culture provides an integral part of contractor management’s decision-making processes.
• Advise project management on corrective actions required.
• Review Contractor Emergency Response Plans and participate in emergency drills.
• Ensure that all employees/contractors are supplied with HSSE induction, PPE & training.
• Liaise with medical staff to ensure high quality medical response & hygiene standards is maintained.
• Ensure high levels of food hygiene / procedures for catering are in place.
• Monitor implementation of waste management practices.
• Ensure Contractor manages actions arising from near miss reports, audits, hazard reviews & incidents.
• Co-ordinate & actively participate in the screening & training of all personnel, including sub-contractors.
• Conduct incident investigations, inspections & audits.
• Plan & help conduct daily HSSE meetings.
• Provide input into daily & weekly reports on HSSE activities.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Degree or Diploma in Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering or in an Engineering or Technological discipline or comparable/demonstrable experience.
• Corporate Membership of recognised professional body e.g. MIOSH, MIEMA etc.. Experience.
• Not essential but beneficial – Understanding or Arabic/ French language
• Good spoken and written English

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Work on brown field oil and gas construction projects, preferably in a North African/Middle eastern country.
• Minimum 10 years experience as a Construction HSE Supervisor within Oil and Gas sector.
• Previous overseas experience in remote desert location working with a multi national work force and culturally diverse environment is essential.
• Competent to teach HSE skills to all levels of personnel and to deliver presentations on HSE management
• Understanding of Environmental Baseline and Impact Assessment process.
• Core HSSE work such as development and implementation of: HSSE Management systems, risk management techniques, compliance audits and inspections, incident investigations, emergency response plans, site inspections, reporting procedures.
• Capable of communicating and influencing at both Senior Management and Worker Level on HSE issues
