HSSE Superintendant

The Company:
Global oil and gas company.

The Role:
The purpose of this position is to monitor, influence and improve the HSSE performance of company owned and chartered vessels and other Marine Operations contractors such as shipyard and tug operators.

• Provide HSSE assurance, monitoring and support
• To operationalise company standards and Global Shipping HSSE procedures
• Track and Investigate Incidents and accidents
• Ensure that HSSE requirements are clearly communicated and tracked, instigating appropriate corrective actions as and when necessary;
• Assist in writing and developing procedures and process instructions.
• Program manage corporate HSSE initiatives, and provide guidance and support, as appropriate, to ensure successful delivery;
• Implement and monitor contractor HSSE management plan elements
• Implement programs such as Behaviour Based Safety (BBS) in owned fleet and evaluate integration of the company Life Saver program into operations contractors’ HSSE programs
• Maintain the incident command centre, participate & administer drills, training and assist in the administration of the Incident Management Plan
• Conduct operational HSSE audits, inspections and visits of owned and chartered vessels and third party contractor facilities
• Carry out audits of ship repair yards to pre-qualify them and attend dockings to ensure HSSE standards are appropriate and maintained
• Conduct and support incident investigations and root cause analyses; ensure completion of action items and share lessons learnt
• Assist with Global Shipping maritime security issues and tasks
• Assist in delivering other Global Shipping HSSE objectives as directed

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• STCW 95 Second mate or third assistant engineers licence, as minimum, or equivalent.
• Marine experience. Should have sailed in an officer capacity at sea, preferably on an Oil or LNG carrier, or equivalent
• Previous experience within a shore based shipping HSSE role is highly desirable
• Experience in auditing marine safety management systems is a requirement
• Ability to learn quickly and be able to adapt in a rapidly changing situation.
• Must be articulate and be a good communicator.
• Must demonstrate very effective organizational skills.
• Must have good administrative qualities as well as strong computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, and Power Point).
• Must have a high level of commitment in order to meet the demanding workload and long work hours.
• Must demonstrate tact and diplomacy
• A USCG licence (or equivalent foreign license) and/or hold a maritime degree
