The Company:
A leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on developing its world-class reserves for domestic and international supply.

The Role:
Fircroft are seeking a highly experienced HSSE Superintendent for engagement by one of the leading Coal Seam Gas Mega-Project Owners in Queensland.

The successful candidate will operate on a contract basis, initially until the end of 2013, to assist in coordination of site HSSE Team in providing supervision and support all site related activities associated with the construction of overland pipelines and facilities from pipe delivery through pipe-lay, re-instatement, to commissioning and all related sub-activities.

Within this pivotal safety role your day to day responsibilities will include:

* The review and follow up on contractor incident flashes as they are issued
* Ensure that the contractor completes timely investigation of incidents and that they are reported into computerised system
* Supporting HSSE initiatives undertaken within the Export Pipeline
* Becoming actively involved in the Risk Assessment process
* Produce weekly reports of site and work stream activities for submission to the HSSEQ Manager - Pipelines
* Conduct regular workplace audits to identify hazards, unsafe workplace conditions & practices
* Ensuring that the incident notification and investigation process is embedded and functioning in the prescribed manner
* Working to maintain a robust reporting process which can be easily managed within the functional reporting process

Your role will involve working closely with direct reports to assist in the early assessment of installation and commissioning risks involved in the implementation of effective control measures. This, in addition to coordinating planning of HSSE safety re-focus sessions, initiatives and ensuring effective communication across the Project work streams.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Educated to Diploma or similar level in Safety with the addition of 'on the job' training/career development courses in HSSE
Good working knowledge of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
Understanding of relevant international codes and standards
A comprehensive knowledge of safe systems of work / permit to work; confined space entry; working at heights; lifting, excavation and trenching operations & Occupational Health Monitoring
Previous experience of recording and controlling waste management

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Good interpersonal skills - Able to liaise with personnel at all levels, communicate effectively to individuals & groups including the undertaking of presentations
Be target orientated & self motivated
Able to work autonomously, lead and influence team members and develop a positive culture within that team
