The Company:
Our client is an Engineering Services company, who are an international technical consultancy, providing a range of services including licence to operate, asset management, manufacturing improvement and capital investment to customers in the chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and consumer industries worldwide.

The Role:
As a Human Factors Engineer you will be working within a highly successful process safety product group, primarily in the high hazard industries of oil and gas, chemicals and power generation. The position is based in either the North East or in Aberdeen. You would be required to deliver consultancy and engineering based human factors solutions alongside a wide variety of discipline engineers (e.g. safety, control and instrumentation, mechanical) and change management consultants.

Key duties will include:

• Performing Task Analysis
• Conducting Human Error Analysis (Human HAZOP or similar studies)
• Designing Alarm Systems
• Designing Control Rooms
• Getting involved in accident investigation
• Managing fatigue risks
• Applying root cause analysis to articulate human factors contributing to accidents and injury
• Using hazard study techniques to identify and assess safety critical activities
• Identifying human factors in the design and operation of safety integrity systems
• Benchmarking critical procedures to assess their impact on human reliability
• Supporting organisational change and transition management activities
• Promoting a safety culture and behaviour improvement

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Degree qualified
• Extensive experience in human factors engineering
• Exposure to the process industry primarily in the high hazard industries of oil and gas, chemicals and power generation

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Willingness to travel for overseas or offshore assignments
• Ability to work both as an individual and / or as part of a team
