The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their LNG mega-project in Western Canada.

This position is anticipated to remain in Calgary throughout the project and will require travel to other Contractor offices and Houston.

The Role:
- Responsible to ensure the design of the Kitimat LNG Plant facilities fully comply with Company HSE and Human Factors Engineering design requirements as well as local and Canadian Regulations and Codes of Practice.
- This position requires close cooperation with the Human Factors Engineering (HFE) Safety in Design (SID) Subject Matter Expert for guidance on conflict resolution between Company design requirements and local and Canadian Regulations as well as liaison with the appropriate Canadian Regulatory bodies for guidance.
- Demonstrate a clear focus on Project's direction as it relates to HSE and HFE.
- "HSE/HFE Design Assurance & Processes Ensure facility designs are in compliance with project HSE and HFE design requirements and national and local Regulatory requirements
- Ensure the SID Addenda Governance process is used to facilitate SID Addenda Approval requests and that the SID Addenda Workbook is maintained.
- Ensure that HSE/HFE concerns and risks are mitigated during design reviews, 3-D model and material handling reviews; Fire Protection reviews; Emergency Response Plan development; during technical bid package reviews; during construction yard reviews.
- Ensure major risks are identified and properly mitigated through improved design by utilizing HFE evaluation methods, in accordance with the Project Operations Excellence/HSE Plan.
- Ensure Contractor follows the Project HFE Philosophy for successful execution of the project Human Factors Implementation Plan (HFIP).
- Understand the applicable Canadian HSE and HFE Design Regulations and Codes of Practice
- Identify conflicts between local regulatory requirements and Company design requirements
- Ensure risk assessments are performed for each regulatory deviation and recorded in the risk register.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Engineering or HSE related degree.- The preferred candidate will have a strong background in applying HSE in a design environment with 10 years post university experience, ideally 5 years within the Oil and Gas industry and experience gained on Major Capital Projects.
- Familiar with Canadian HSE and Design Legislation; 3-D model review procedures; project design document and drawing review; construction yard surveys to ensure compliance with project design requirements; Risk Assessment Systems; IHAZIDs and HAZOPs.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- A strong background in safety and experience in some or all of the following key areas would be advantageous: Facility Engineering, HES, risk management, experience in managing third party agencies and/or contractors.
