The Company:
Our Client’s engineering division, has been a leader in the design of drilling facilities for offshore platforms worldwide for over 30 years. The company’s 700-strong workforce provides a range of engineering services from pre-project and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) through detail design, construction support, hook-up and commissioning.

The Role:
The primary responsibilities of the role are:

Standards, Support & Advice

Ensure the successful implementation and consistent application of the clients Worldwide Human Resources standards.
Liaise with, support and advise the Business Manager(s) and Greenfield management team to provide proactive support, advice and guidance on all people challenges across the business.
Provide expert advice on all HR matters, including the application of current employment legislation, policies and processes to support the employee / contractor workforce within Greenfield projects.

Recruitment & Retention

Maintain a high level of market and competitor awareness and implement effective recruitment and retention measures to successfully attract and retain high calibre employees and contractors.
Develop and implement manpower strategies to support existing and new Greenfield projects.
Work with wider operational HR teams to identify internal operational candidates proactively, ensuring readiness when operational input is required to support Greenfield projects.
Proactively address any turnover or absence issues, ensuring appropriate action taken on any issues of concern.
Facilitate exit interviews and ensure appropriate follow-up where required.
Work with the corporate Training & Development team to ensure local support for graduates assigned to the Greenfield business, ensuring graduates are attracted, retained and developed in support of longer-term business needs.

Performance Management

Champion the performance appraisal process and ensure appropriate follow-up, with particular emphasis on training and development needs, career development aspirations and readiness for promotion.
Provide support to operational and functional managers in the preparation of succession plans ensuring development plans are put in place for potential successors and ‘high potentials’, and that any identified risks are managed appropriately.
Provide advice and guidance on performance management issues, encouraging the use of documented discussions and implementation of performance improvement plans where required.

Compensation & Benefits

Provide advice and guidance on all employee terms and conditions, liaising with the corporate HR team on terms and conditions of employment for all permanent staff employees.
Work with the corporate Compensation & Benefits team to collate market data in support of remaining competitive - both commercially to clients and competitively as an employer.
Maintain up-to-date awareness of contractor workforce remuneration and terms of engagement within the engineering industry and make recommendations to the Business Manager where changes are necessary to support recruitment and retention.
Develop and manage terms and conditions of employment for the contractor workforce to meet the requirements of employment legislation and compliance with the client requirement.

3rd Party Contractors

Assist in the selection and management of third party manpower suppliers and ensure they comply with all Company / client directives, processes and procedures.
Ensure the contracts, and associated insurance liability cover, with third party manpower suppliers are maintained to ensure the effective utilisation of contractors for the business.
Monitor and audit the performance of third party manpower suppliers.


Provide input to tenders / bids as required.
Assist in overseeing the maintenance of the Human Resources database and personnel files.
Liaise with Company Medical Advisers to provide appropriate support and advice to employees.
Compile HR reports and statistics as required by the Greenfield Business Management team and Group HR Managers.
Undertake business travel as required to operational installations and associated offices or areas of business interest.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
Degree qualified, preferably supported by CIPD or post graduate equivalent.
Extensive background delivering generalist HR support in an engineering business, with a good understanding of contractor workforces.
Experience working in an international, global business.
Demonstrable management experience.
Familiar with challenges associated with managing expatriate assignments (both short and long-term, contractor and employee).

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree Qualified preferably supported by CIPD or Post Graduate equivalent
Experience in working in an International, Global business
Demonstrable Management experience
Extensive background in delivering generalist HR support in an engineering business
