The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
Deliver Engineering systems and components to meet the requirements of the Project Description Brochure.
Responsible for the specification, test and validation plan to achieve the cost, weight, timing and quality targets for the project. Achieve engineering signoff for systems and components in area of responsibility.

1. Support and Lead Design Development
- Leading the design and development of systems, components and technologies in one or more area of the Body Electronics team (Body Controllers, Mechatronics, HVAC and Driver Assistance).
- Capturing and specifying design requirements.
- Leading the engineering test and validation planning and sign-off for systems and components.
- Leading the engineering release and change management process.

2. Delivery of projects
- Planning and managing project related activities throughout the complete project development process.
- Reporting project status in cross functional and project teams.
- Advanced understanding of cross functional working with other areas of the business.
- Leading and initiating working with suppliers for progressing project deliverables.
- Financial awareness of the role within the organisation.
- Knowledge of cost of parts and systems with an understanding of Value Engineering.

3. Problem Solving
- Ability to solve highly complex engineering and design related problems.
- Analysis and management of multiple design related issues to identify the root cause.
- Collection, management and analysis of data to produce reports as appropriate and progress design guidelines.

4. Developing and maintaining Specialist knowledge
- Responsibility for keeping the functional area up-to-date with technology in area of responsibility.
- Capturing learning from previous experience. Working with and influencing Group partners.
- Keeping up-to-date with the latest group developments.

5. Ability to work within a team
- Ability to work effectively in the cross functional team.
- Leading contribution in delivering team objectives.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Ability to liaise at various levels across the company in different forums.
Good communication skills, written and verbal.
Flexible team player.
Dynamic and proactive self-starter, able to work independently.
Co-ordination and organisation skills.
Design and development skills.
Ability to influence colleagues within area of responsibility.
Understanding of financial limits within area of responsibility.
Ability to solve problems.
Understanding of Health and Safety and capability to complete risk assessment in own area.
German language preferable.

Qualifications -
Higher Engineering degree or equivalent.
Membership of a relevant professional intuition and Chartered Engineer status is preferable.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Significant advanced knowledge of: design and development; test and measurement; engineering drawings; software tools.
Understanding of the Product Emergence Process (PEP).
Knowledge and hand-on experience (ideally) of vehicle communications/architecture including network technologies (e.g. CAN, LIN, Flexray) and diagnostic tools (e.g. IDEX, ODIS).
Conversance with company systems and processes is highly desired but not essential.
