The Company:
Our Client is a Major Operator, Current role is for an I & E Controls Engineer-

Temp to Perm position / to transition early 2012-

Even though this is a Contract Position, full Medical, Dental, Vision & 401K (immediate match and vested) will be offered-

Location is Greenspoint area, Houston, TX-

The Role:
The I&E Process Control Systems Engineer has responsibilities for testing and managing all process controls and safety shutdown systems associated with production equipment used by Marine Well Containment Company. Applicant must be a degreed engineer with extensive experience in design, installation, check-out, troubleshooting, operation, and upgrade of electronic instrumentation and all end elements that monitor flow, temperature, or pressure in an automated or controlled systems environment. Applicant should also have extensive experience with Distributive Controls (DCS) and Programmable Logic Control (PLC) systems.

Job Description:

• Responsible for providing design input/review of all aspects of project process control and safety shutdown systems, topsides processing, and subsea systems.
• Lead Project handover of operable control and safety shutdown systems.
• Detailed knowledge of Fire and Gas detection and safety shutdown systems.
• Participate in development and implementation of a long term preservation and system readiness program to deploy mechanical, electrical, and control systems for Company objectives.
• Development of testing procedures and MOC policies that are aligned with business best practices and regulatory requirements to ensure safety, operability, and compliance.
• Evaluation of training and competency processes that are affiliated with process and safety control systems.
• Knowledge and application of all regulatory standards as applied to Gulf of Mexico operations (i.e. API RP 14C, API RP 75….). Monitoring any changes or upgrades that affect the controls systems.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Skills / Education:

• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering. (Electrical Preferred)
• Minimum of Eight years of relevant experience in the oil/gas industry working as a control systems engineer.
• Functional knowledge PLC / DCS systems, and Process Control and safety shutdown systems and schemes, and Fire and Gas safety systems related to producing Oil and Gas.
• Experience with Sub-Sea Hydraulic / Electrical control systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge of contracting practices, procurement practices, and principles applied by major oil/gas companies.
• Ability to work in a team setting that has a small startup environment.
• Project completion and hand over experience, including Factory Acceptance Testing, Operational Readiness Testing, and Operational Acceptance and Startup.
• Ability to travel in the Gulf Coast Region
