The Role:
My operator client has acquired a 50:50 JV interest in a large LNG project in western Canada and requires an I&C Engineer to be based in Yokohama, Japan.

The client will operate the downstream scope to design and build

(i) a two train 10MMTPA LNG liquefaction and marine export facility on the Canadian west coast, and
(ii) the Pacific Trail pipeline (463km) to link to third party pipeline infrastructure

Site clearance is underway and FEED work on the LNG facility and pipeline has commenced. This is a world scale project and represents another major step forward for this client to be among the top LNG producers in the world. This position will be a key member of the LNG Plant Engineering Team that provides support for the LNG Plant Project for completion of Phase 3 (FEED) and Phase 4 (detailed design). Reporting to the Lead I&C Engineer, who will be located in the Contractor's Calgary office, the I&C Engineer will be the senior instrumentation and control discipline Company representative resident in the Contractor's Yokohama office and will be part of a multi-functional project team. Position will be based in the Contractor's Yokohama office which is responsible for delivery of the LNG plant ISBL scope (LNG trains including pre-treatment). Position is responsible for providing technical review of the EPC contractor's instrumentation and control design deliverables, studies and databases for the facility ISBL scope and works with Lead I&C Engineer to ensure compliance with project requirements including codes, standards and specifications.

As this is a newly aquired project for the client, the final details regardng relocation, accomodation and other benefits are all yet to be finally confirmed, but everything will be negotiable for the right candidate and will be discussed at interview stage.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Technical Experience: - Degreed engineer with minimum of 10 years demonstrated experience with I&C systems including design and procurement. Competent in instrument and control systems design, development of P&IDs, control and safety narratives, Cause and Effect Charts; support HAZOPs, Control and Safety Objective analysis, SPI Database setup and audits. Experience working with operations and maintenance teams to develop process startup procedures, operating instructions, and operator training guides for grassroots facilities. Proficient with industry and Company standards, specifications, and guidelines for I&C equipment.

MCP Experience: - Major capital project experience required. Major capital project experience on a LNG plant project is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work in multi-discipline teams, including contractors and vendors. Ability to effectively balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced Project environment.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
HES: - Must be committed to Incident & Injury Free operation. Visibly demonstrate safety culture of the Company. Possess a good understanding of safe design & operating practices including application of process safety, HFE and SID. Commitment to understanding and implementing IIF and compliance with safe work practices. Must champion safety performance including the contractors' work force.
