The Role:
PURPOSE
This job description details the requirements for the role of ICT Support Specialist, reporting directly to the Senior ICT Support Specialist. The ICT Support Specialist will be part of a highly skilled, self-motivated, ICT team, whose primary objective is to ensure that the business is provided with an extremely high level of ICT support & project management services.

ROLE OBJECTIVES
In line with business and legislative requirements, to maintain high levels of safety, availability and reliability for ICT services, by ensuring the effective and accurate provision of a diverse range of ICT duties, in order to support the Client business as a whole in achieving ICT goals and objectives. To contribute to the timely achievement of personal, departmental and section goals.

DUTIES
- To manage, support and develop the Client ICT helpdesk, policies, reports, procedures, written protocols etc, satisfying both business and customer needs and statutory and agreed internal and external standards.
- Responsible for providing both end user and overall technical support to Client ICT users based at HQ and Client operational sites. To do this by email, phone, using remote management tools or in person.
- To support other members of the ICT Department and site specific teams, in maintaining high levels of safety, availability and reliability for ICT hardware and software (including systems).
- To ensure the effective and accurate provision of a range of administration and support duties. To include (but not limited to):
- 1st, 2nd & 3rd line Client ICT helpdesk support.
- Preparation and installations of hardware/software.
- Physical hardware rollouts & upgrades.
- Undertake an active role in managing/supporting ICT projects and strategic activities, in their planning, preparation and management. Ensure a balance between the management of these and day to day ICT support requirements.
- Telecoms Support – Mitel IP, voice recording & Mobile phones.
- Support & management of Client corporate tools such as (but not limited to):

Microsoft products
Citrix
LANDesk
CMMS (Maintenance management systems)
Finance (SAP)
VSphere/ESX Server
SQL
Exchange/OCS
VPN
Video Conferencing
Web/Mail Filters
NetSupport
AutoCAD
Management of multi-vendor printing estate.
Procurement of ICT Equipment/Licenses/Systems.
License management.
UK wide site ICT Support visits & supporting site ICT based projects
Maintenance and testing of LAN/WAN/Server equipment.
Training of staff on new systems and hardware.
Provide appropriate support and information to the ICT Support Team Leader outlining relevant issues, trends and policies.
Establish strong, effective relationships with all members of the ICT Department and it’s key customers – internal and external.
Remain up to date with ICT and other relevant industry best practice, trends, data and statutory requirements.
As required, to contribute and complete development and secondment projects, site visits and other opportunities.
To portray the role of ICT Support Specialist in an enthusiastic, positive and professional manner.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree qualified/equivalent or working towards in an IT related subject.

Relevant ICT work experience & contributions.
Experience in Development, implementation & evaluation of systems, upgrades, improvements & modifications
Experience in Installation, upgrading & general support of a wide range of software/hardware applications.
Experience in Building, installation & upgrading of hardware.
Experience of Helpdesk support

Experience in WAN/LAN support, installation & maintenance.
Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office-suite

Committed to self-development. Undertakes & put into practice appropriate learning activities.
Identifies mechanisms to remain up to date with industry, IT & statutory changes & best practice.

Experience in Licensing & ICT hardware procurements

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Commercial awareness of the energy market – key players, legislation & regulations.
Previous experience of telecommunications support.
