The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:

Play a key specialist role in the management and development of the IT technical/application architecture at Bentley for a given ‘complex product’ domain that is significant in its nature (e.g. Network, Server technology, SAP). Being cognisant of strategic business requirements, balancing constraints and Group IT synergy initiatives. Strive to be creative and innovative by keeping up to date with technology and its practical applications.

Management of the full product life-cycle (upgrades/additions/modifications/deletions) in conjunction with the full technology stack that underpins it, performance, standards, security, associated services as well as negotiating and influencing VW Group standards and strategic direction.

Ensuring the product is suitable to deliver the strategic Bentley functional and cross-functional requirements, also for other group companies where service is provided (eg Lamborghini) and planning future changes to align with business needs to ensure resilience and sustainability. Responsible for configuration and deployment standards also working within projects to ensure product suitability and capability to meet current and future requirements, while influencing and advising project stakeholders.

To keep up to date with changes in the market place, VW direction and vendor strategy in relation to the product and its development. Responsible for change management to the product and associated services, ensuring risk is managed and that measures and controls are in place.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES (Maximum of 5 relating to products, services etc.)

1. Develop IT complex product architecture
• Define strategy for IT Technical product domain assigned to you
• Keep up to date and look for innovative development of product(s)
• Enure product assigned to you are fully managed within the architecture
• Work with the team to devlop and progress the whole IT architecture
2. Ensure Product Performance, Security and Capacity
• Define and monitor Key Performance Indicators
• Ensure Timely resolution of product problems and escalation where appropriate
• SLA and OLA agreement/achievement, ensure 3rd party support is aligened
• Sucessful and efficient operation, measured through KPIs
3. Manage Product Life-Cycle
• Ensure correct configuration when deployed
• Develop product in conjunction with Technical Architect and project requirements
• Development and maintenance of Product life cycle plan
• Maintain awareness of Product Strategy and vendor life cycle
• Release and deployment management
4. Ensure Appropriate Usage of Product within Bentley/Maintain Standards
• Ensure the product is being used appropriately
• Design and architecture documentation is in place
• Maintain an understanding of product interfaces
• Identify and document any limitations of use
• Validate product usage during architecture phases of IT PEP
• Identify skills required to operate and identify necessary training
• Ensure Integration to product and service catalogues
5. Ensure Change to the Product is Managed
• Generate proposal of change in agreement with product owner
• Identify and implement necessary product change
• Ensure that product changes are planned, communicated and accepted
• Assessment of risk and identification/implementation of mitigating actions

(such as sales volumes, production volume, number of bought parts etc.)
Technical guidance of IT specialists (employees).
Supporting and assisting a number of parallel projects with technical architecture input.
Maintaining the architectural documentation for infrastructure products and components and their use in IT services.

Extensive experience working in highly technical environment, coordinating and developing infrastructure, applications and people, technology strategy and solutions. Developing technology portfolio in order to enhance product offerings.

Specific technical experience of the product, be it Client, Server, Network or Application.

Skills and experience in evolving technical and application products and generating proposals to ensure the solution meets business demand and is matched to the IT marketplace.

Integration of new solutions into existing technical architectures. Working to tight project deadlines and assisting projects to achieve technical approval gateways in the PEP process.

Coordinating and integrating technical products to deliver an overall solution.

Generation and maintenance of architectural documentation, use of Configuration Management Database and PlanningIT (VW Group IT repository tool).


Broad IT technical experience and deep specific understanding of the IT product domain.

Able to generate forward plans and budget estimates for change and integrate new business technical and non-technical requirements.

Understanding of IT security topics including aspects of availability and recovery.

Specialist Qualifications relevant to product (e.g. SAP certification, CISCO Network, Microsoft Server etc).
Degree/Masters in IT or IT related discipline.
ITIL Foundation.
