The Role:
Fircroft are seeking an inspection engineer for a long term contract position within Iraq

Location: Iraq
Duration: 12 month rolling contract
Day Rates: circa 650- 700 GBP per day
Accommodation/flights - Provided

The Inspection Engineer will be a key member of the Operations Engineering Team, accountable for providing functional support on Integrity and Inspection issues to operated assets.
The role will report directly to the Operations Static Systems Integrity Engineer

Primary Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have a duty to his / herself and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition there is an expectation the successful candidate will promote ‘best in class’ safety behaviours and by example assist the Operations Dept to embed a culture of safety awareness and hazard recognition in the day to day operations, as well as promoting and developing an environmental awareness culture.
An essential requirement of this role will be to mentor local national graduate engineers and develop their skills and capabilities to levels where these engineers can competently fulfil this role as part of their development to professional engineer status. An awareness and understanding of other cultures is a requirement. A major aspect of this role will be to coach and train the existing inspection team in current industry inspection planning, practices and techniques.
A thorough knowledge of ASME and API codes relating to Piping, Vessel and Storage Tank construction, inspection, and repair is necessary. Knowledge of welding engineering and material selection commonly seen in upstream oil fields is required. There will be a requirement to interact with other disciplines such as field staff, maintenance and project teams to ensure inspection resources are effectively managed. Initially there will be a requirement to perform onsite inspections of equipment.
In the immediate short term the candidate will be required to assist the Operations Engineering Team to prioritise repairs and upgrades of major equipment with the immediate bias being towards in-field flowlines. There will be a need to carry out plant inspections during scheduled plant shutdowns and review of inspection findings. An ability to clearly prioritise work and produce succinct reports will be required.
In the longer term assist and contribute to the development and implementation of Mechanical Integrity Inspection Plans and procedures. Provide input to and feedback on implementation of Site Engineering Standards and procedures.
Integrity and Inspection Engineering input as required to the Operations Management of Change process including review of proposals and identification of minimum QA / QC and testing requirements during plant upgrade projects to give assurance of quality of work delivered by the on-site EPC.

The successful candidate will work closely with the existing Inspection Team to

• Perform QC , Fabrication and Welding inspection during modification and repairs to Pressure Vessels and Piping systems .
• Carry out on-site inspection of plant equipment and produce reports of inspection with remedial recommendations where required.
• Develop Inspection plans for static equipment across the assets including inspection frequencies for pressure vessel, tank, PSV’s and piping system, in the Preventative Maintenance system (co-ordinating with Maintenance Planning).
• Produce Written Schemes of Examination for specific items and review and approve WSE’s when required.
• Identify appropriate inspection methods and requirements for pressure vessels, tanks, piping systems and in-field flow lines inspections in accordance with current industry standards.
• Identify training needs in line with industry standards for current inspection personnel and recommend training plans to meet these needs.
• Provide Integrity/Inspection input to the field MMS system.
• Identify inspection needs and provide effective inspection resource management to the small projects and maintenance groups.


Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Attribute
B.Sc. or equivalent i.e. 20 + years experience and CSWIP/API certification You will have strong Inspection / Integrity Engineering, maintenance and fabrication experience in and be adept at working in a multi-disciplined, multi-cultural team. Self starting and self managing are key attributes for the role.
You will have a track record of demonstrating success at delivering asset integrity / inspection plans and influencing team members to improve performance and change work practices.
Have experience in working abroad, preferably in Arab speaking countries.
Have Good computing and reporting skills.

In addition you will have the ability to analyse problems, , determine action, and develop solutions, communicating intentions and progress to all levels.
