The Role:
• Lead all aspects of the instruments and controls engineering design development for the Project, throughout the project life from early front-end engineering through to project close-out, to ensure that overall project cost, schedule, safety and quality objectives are achieved.
• Act as the focal point for all LV electrical work and liaison with clients electrical specialists when technical support / approvals are required.
• Interfacing with the Project Subsea Team specifically for the integration of the Subsea Controls System.
• Manage all instruments and controls-related technical interfaces between the host platforms and the Project Topsides Module, taking a holistic view of the overall Project controls system integration scope to maximise the operability of the Project systems. In particular, take responsibility for the controls interfaces between Project and the ongoing client control system project.
• Assist in development or updating, review and approval of all applicable engineering deliverables relevant to the discipline, including specifications, reports, drawings, data sheets, calculations, cause and effects, controls system URS, FDS, SIL assessments, RFQ packages, vendor data and FAT procedures etc. Support and participate in FATs.
• Ensure that all sequence logic is integrated into the platform and that all associated process systems are logically sound for operations.
• Primary contributor to URS, FDS, VIP, HAZID, HAZOP, PUWER and other safety, regulatory, peer and operations reviews.
• Assist in the development of offshore installation, hook-up, commissioning and start-up procedures, and play a major role in planning and implementation of offshore installation, commissioning and start-up activities, including attendance offshore.

• Take a proactive approach to incorporating safety into the Projects design and adopting the principle of inherent safety wherever possible. Work with fellow PMT discipline engineers and contractor engineers to develop engineering solutions which minimise the potential for incidents throughout the project and subsequent field-life.
• As contract manager for all contracts relevant to the instruments/ controls discipline, monitor contractor performance and proactively manage and assist contractors to meet objectives. Closely monitor contractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with technical contractual requirements.
• Expedite the project plan to deliver high quality solutions consistent with the agreed Project objectives and deadlines.
• Assist with development of key project management system deliverables including the Statement of Requirements and Basis of Design, and any other discipline-specific deliverables associated with each phase of the Client Project Management System•
Work in compliance with the agreed management of change and risk management processes. Act as Focal Point for any discipline-specific management of change, specification changes, deviations, etc. to quantify and manage associated quality, cost and/ or schedule impacts.
• Ensure that the design in all areas of responsibility is in accordance with the Basis of Design, Company HSE and quality standards, and relevant codes and specifications, and that reliability and operability are given priority.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Qualified to Degree level in electrical, instruments or controls engineering.
- Chartered Engineer or equivalent.
- Relevant discipline experience within oil and gas industry, preferably including subsea controls system integration.
- Previous offshore experience preferred.
- Highly motivated, proactive problem-solving individual with strong interpersonal skills, ability to self-start, work unsupervised, take a lead and show initiative.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Commercial and contractual awareness.
- Ability to communicate technically complex/ novel concepts to non-specialists.
