The Role:
Basic Function and Scope:

Reviews field engineering modifications for approval of CLIENT’S project site changes in Instrumentation and Control implementation. Performs site acceptance verification of CLIENT’S project Instrument and Control Systems to facilitate Tie-ins, systems completion and handover. Provide commissioning and startup assistance as required with regards to Instrument and Control Systems for timely startup of CLIENT’S Project facilities.


2. Tasks and Duties:


a. Participate in Project Safety efforts like Safety Walks, STOP card, Tool Box Talks, Safety meetings and workshops.

b. Studies project specifications and drawings to become fully familiar with work requirements and the general layout for CLIENT’S facilities, especially DCS, IPS, PSS,, ESD systems, F&G systems, Package Systems, CEMS, Analysers, Metering systems and their process instrumentation in plant.

c. Performs analyses of CLIENT’S project drawings and design documents and verifies project installation and implementation is in line with project documentation and industrial standards.

d. Review engineering design change requests, Technical Queries, Deviation Request and Concession request from CLIENT’S CONTRACTOR for approval.

e. Inspects and verifies project installation and Tie-ins to verify that the quality of Contractor, subcontractor and Vendor works meet the project quality standards.

f. Reviews Interface Agreements, Method Statements, Job Safety Analysis of Instrument and Control System Works and participate in Risk Assessment of Tie-in works.

g. Supervises the implementation of instrumentation and control systems (DCS/ESD/PSS/F&G) Tie-ins and site modification carried out to ensure execution and completion follows established Company and Project standards and specification.

h. Ensures that instrumentation and control systems drawings are redline marked up for all changes done at site to reflect any alterations, modifications and additions to instrument and control systems.

i. Inspect and perform testing for Instrument and Control installation acceptance. Raise punch items as required and complete system completion check sheets as necessary on witnessing such testing.

j. Carries out other similar or related duties as per the direction from the Supervisor.

Work Contacts:

Daily contacts with other engineers in the project team and the operating company to discuss project aspects, answer technical queries and to resolve problems. Outside frequent contacts with contractors, sub contractors and vendors to discuss, review and approve construction / installation / Tie-in / commissioning work.

4. Independence of Operations:

Works in accordance with approved Company policies, procedures and professional engineering standards. Is expected to give expert technical advice in his engineering discipline. Work to be discussed on a regular basis with Supervisor.


5. Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervises work directions to Instrument and Control Systems Engineers / Supervisors of EPC contractors and Vendors for all project installation in existing facilities and new facilities.


6. Physical Effort:

50% - Sitting

50% - Walking and standing when monitoring installation work, testing and commissioning instrument systems.


7. Work Environment:

60% - Normally air-conditioned office environment.

40% - Non air-conditioned environment exposed to heat, humidity, noise and fumes.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Engineering degree in Electrical / Electronics or Instrumentation.

b. Minimum 8 years’ experience in instrumentation and control system design, engineering, commissioning and maintenance with at least 5 years in the Oil and Gas or similar process industry.

c. Very good written and spoken English.

d. High computer literacy in both office and technical / engineering applications.
