The Company:
SADARA is a Multinational Chemical company which is constructing and operating a world-scale integrated chemicals complex in Saudi Arabia. Once completed, the complex will represent the largest petrochemical facility ever built in a single phase. This will establish a world-scale manufacturing footprint that delivers a full range of value-added, performance products destined for the emerging markets of Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Africa.

The Role:
Provide Instrument support for production, Maintenance, Reliability and PID department through addressing existing equipment issues and new equipment design in order to optimize efficiency, safety, quality and cost effectiveness.

1. Responsible for Instrument Engineering support for maintenance, reliability and operation of Instrument equipment.

2. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publication; establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.

3. Assist in the conduct of training sessions for operators, engineers and technicians for better understanding and appreciation of system reliability and proper use and operation of Instrument Engineering equipment.

4. Coordinate and participate in site Instrument Engineering Safety and Reliability Audits. Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and Safety Loss Prevention principles are carefully considered.

5. Support:
• Production department
- Provide Instrument Engineering support

• Maintenance department
- Provide Instrument engineering support on maintenance projects and repairs
- Provide technical assistance and resolution /troubleshooting support
- Evaluate repair proposals for sound Instrument Engineering practice and conformance with established safety and design criteria, and recommend approval or disapproval.
- Participate in fit for service evaluations of new and repaired Instrument engineering equipment

• Reliability department
- Provide technical assistance and resolution /troubleshooting support in RCI
- Participate in the review of the PPM program for maintenance goal alignment.

• PID department
- Provide Instrument Engineering field support on construction projects
- Support PID department with preparation of project cost and work estimates, development of scope and material take-offs to support project estimates. Assist with analyse tasks to determine estimates of man-hours, materials and resources needed for successful and timely completion of project requirements.
- Evaluate vendors and engineering proposals for sound Instrument Engineering practice and conformance with established safety and design criteria, and recommend approval or disapproval.
- Participate in fit for service evaluations of new Instrument Engineering equipment

• Purchasing department
- Evaluate vendors and service providers.

6. Conduct research, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and other instrumentation systems related activities using engineering principles and applications.

7. Ensure estimate, scope, specification, design and installation follow instrument and process control technology regulations and standards.

8. Evaluate and approve instrument and process control technology specifications, drawings and other documentation.

9. Develop or review design alternatives and recommend long term solutions in cases where no firm technical requirements or precedents exist.

10. Provide technical support to site maintenance through advanced troubleshooting of equipment and analysis of technical failures, in order to formulate solutions and scope of repairs. Identify suitable and best-in-class equipment repair facilities and strategies through careful evaluation of vendors and suppliers.

11. Perform assessment and reviews of instrumentation or process control technology aspects of engineering, ensuring project specifications such as safety, technical correctness, financials, and timing are observed.

12. Collaborate with engineering peers, clients and vendors or suppliers to ensure successful project deployment and delivery. Develop and manage resources including scope and material take offs, work hours and schedules, to support project estimates and requirements.

13. Support construction projects by preparing contract specifications and providing engineering field support, when requested by the Owner’s Representative or plant personnel.

14. Ensure that instrumentation design comply with environmental regulations and Safety and Loss Prevention principles

15. Perform any job-related activities as requested by the immediate supervisor/manager.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Professional Experience (minimum)
• 10 years of experience in Instrument Engineering or similar technical / industrial field of work
• Experience with SIS design and Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) design software preferred.
