Our Client is a global Energy Leader with a strong commitment to Honest and Ethical Business Practices within the Oil and Gas Industry. Our Client operates as an independent energy company. It has four segments: Oil and Gas, Syncrude, Energy Marketing, and Chemicals. The Oil and Gas segment explores, develops, and produces crude oil, natural gas, and related products.

The Role:
The purpose of this role is to provide Project Instrumentation Engineering support and information to the Project Team from front end engineering development up to operational handover, with specific responsibilities in the area of instrumentation engineering and assessment.

Manage instrumentation elements relative to Client’s work scopes. Interface with Contractor’s Engineers, Consultants, Regulatory Bodies and Client Corporate Staff e.g. Technical Authorities. Monitor progression of design deliverables and studies – intervening where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities
 Manage the Instrumentation Elements of the Client's project team ensuring that activities executed are consistent with client goals, strategies and UK Legislation
 Direct instrument design work as part of brownfield modifications undertaken by Engineering Design and Construction Contractors and Consultants
 Interface with Client Corporate Departments
 Monitor and Control the progress of design deliverables to the desired quality standard with regard also to cost and schedule
 Ensure all Instrumentation activities are carried out in accordance with industry and client values, standards, policies, procedures and specifications
 Critique Contractor’s and Consultant’s methodologies and deliverables proposing alternative strategies where appropriate
 Co-ordinate the preparation, tendering, evaluation, award of purchase orders relating to instrumentation including those elements contained within the larger detail design, construction, hook up and commissioning contracts.
 Co-ordinate all necessary third party studies to support development of the facilities and achieve statutory approvals.
 Provide regular feedback to project personnel on Instrument and Control engineering activities, progress, issues, successes, areas of concern and requirements for additional support
 Provide client discipline representation at project Risk Assessments, Hazops, SIL Assessments, Design Reviews etc.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Chartered Engineer Preferred, with Relevant Engineering Degree or equivalent experience
Extensive knowledge and experience in application of Control & Instrumentation Engineering (including the applicable regulations, codes and standards)
Current offshore survival certificate and medical preferred
Engineer with considerable relevant engineering experience in Control & Instrumentation matters within Oil & Gas Environment
Fully conversant with UK offshore requirements
Ability to plan and produce instrumentation deliverables relative to Client's Projects Requirements
Ability to manage instrumentation plans, estimates and deliverable production by E&C Contractor and Consultants
A thorough understanding of Integrated Control and Safety System design and maintenance including PCS, PSD, ESD and F&G.
A thorough understanding of functional safety lifecycle management in accordance with the requirements of IEC 61508/61511.
