The Company:
Our Client is a global Energy Leader with a strong commitment to Honest and Ethical Business Practices within the Oil and Gas Industry. Our Client operates as an independent energy company. It has four segments: Oil and Gas, Syncrude, Energy Marketing, and Chemicals. The Oil and Gas segment explores, develops, and produces crude oil, natural gas, and related products.

The Role:
•Provide Onshore support to the Offshore Operations team to facilitate effective maintenance and repair activities.
•Act as Offshore/Onshore focal point for performance monitoring and troubleshooting of Instrument systems.
•Identify and provide cost effective engineering solutions to platform operations and maintenance problems.
•Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, improve reliability, and reduce operating costs.

•Safety - Conducts all activities in a safe and effective manner and raises safety and environmental issues immediately and in line with corporate policy

•Leadership - Undertakes the role in line with corporate policy and demonstrates behaviours in line with Company’s values at all times. Readily accepts accountability

•Financial - Carries out duties in a way that maximises value and minimises waste and risk.

•Technical/Functional -
•Individually demonstrate positive HSE behaviour and awareness at all times and engage in clear conversation with personnel about HSE issues.
•Ensure positive HSE performance by personnel, contractors and others working under the direction of the Instrument Engineer.
•Ensure that Instrument engineering work (OPEX) remains within/below budget.
•Ensure delivery of a technically correct and timely Instrument engineering work (OPEX) service.
•Jointly responsible with Asset Supervisors and Engineering Team Leaders for prioritising Instrument (OPEX) / EQs to provide an appropriate level of Instrument engineering support.
•Engage and participate in any operational improvement process to optimise Instrument engineering (OPEX) support.
•Actively support Company’s commitment to safety (Life Saving rules) and environmental protection. Take a proactive role in identifying safety improvements.
•Provide Onshore discipline support to the Maintenance Planning process.
•Provide discipline support to the review of PMRs within the SAP CMMS.
•Ensure work procedures are technically sound and carried out in accordance with Company Management Systems and procedures.
•Share and adopt best practices across the company and support and identify opportunities to enhance consistency and alignment between assets, where practicable.
•Maintain an appreciation of the latest emerging technologies that will improve the performance of the asset.
•Provide recommendations for critical spares and optimise asset inventory.
•Represent Company as contract representative for asset support contracts.
•Act as liaison with other disciplines, vendor representatives, and manufacturers. Ensure vendor support is efficiently applied when required.
•Assist with the resolution of operational problems, including participation in and close-out of accident/incident investigations and equipment failure root cause analysis.
•Contribute to the development of the field optimisation strategy and the business planning process.
•Make regular trips offshore to enhance communication and promote the understanding of goals, minimum six per annum.
•Communicate Instrument issues to Offshore management and the Onshore team.
•Support recruitment, selection, training and competency programs for Onshore and Offshore teams, to ensure the effective resourcing of technicians.
•Take ownership for the continuous development of your own personal and technical expertise and knowledge.
•Proactive action management of all Safety / Environmental actions associated with the instrument position.
•Proactive management of all safety and business critical maintenance backlog.
•Fully support Company’s hydrocarbon release reduction programme.
•Act as Operations Superintendent on an interim basis as and when required,

•Collaboration - Collaborates with others in the team and looks for opportunities to leverage their network and work with others to develop safe, practical and effective solutions

•Continuous Improvement & Innovation - Continuously develops ways of working by seeking feedback from colleagues and key stakeholders. Complies with Company project management disciplines, effectively utilises knowledge databases and actively participates in project reviews

•Capability Development - Looks for opportunities to develop technical and personal skills both by formal learning interventions and work experience. Coaches team colleagues where appropriate and demonstrates a personal commitment to lifelong learning

•People Processes - Engages with people processes in a positive and timely manner. Demonstrates a commitment to the spirit of such processes.

•Performs other duties, completes additional tasks and supports ad hoc projects as required

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Related Engineering Degree or equivalent
•Considerable experience of the oil and gas industry, predominantly gained in an engineering and production operations environment.
•Good working knowledge and application of relevant UK oil and gas industry regulations.
•Familiarity with quality processes and the application of continuous improvement tools is desirable.
•Proven ability to interact effectively at all levels and encourage a team ethos across core crew and subcontractors.
•Ability to work in a fast moving, customer focused environment whilst maintaining the highest ethical integrity.
•Computer literacy required on Windows based applications.
