The Role:
Key Result Areas:
• Provides overall instrumentation engineering technical leadership and expertise
• Participates in EPC bid providing technical clarifications and bid evaluation
• Stewards EPC contractor's activities with respect to instrumentation including:
o Development and design of the I&C system
o Measurement and reporting of physical progress
o Selection, specification, and inspection of instrumentation components
o Oversight of tagged items specification preparation.
• Reviews, evaluates, and advises PMT and operating company staff concerning:
o Instrument specifications, logic and loop diagrams
o Compliance with design methods and safety factors used in design
o Reviews completed design for correctness, compliance, and operability
o Operability of the unit or plant for start up, normal, turndown, and shutdown modes
o Reviews or sets design basis for abnormal operating conditions
o Review of loop check and function test ESD/DCS modifications
• Participates in Hazardous Operations (HAZOP) and SIL reviews.
• Performs timely review of specifications and documentation to ensure that project schedules are maintained.
• Assists PMT in meeting COMPANY expectations as required, especially COMPANY Element 2 (Risk Assessment), COMPANY Element 3 (Facility Design & Construction) and COMPANY Element 7 (Management of Change).

• Works on large capital expenditure projects in a highly dynamic team environment that has tight-deadlines, high pressure and visibility, requiring accuracy, initiative and the ability to multi-task as essential skills.
• Demonstrates willingness to tackle a variety of tasks in response to evolving business needs.

Communications and Working Relationships:
• Interfaces among various project teams and departments on issues relating to the position. This requires effective communication, initiative, flexibility and an ability to induce collaboration.
• Exhibits team leadership skills, integrity, interpersonal understanding, and self-confidence.

Problem Solving/Complexity:
• Utilizes a systematic approach to problem solving that ensures accuracy, timeliness and quality of documentation in resolution.
• Able to work moderately complex tasks to completion within time constrains of Project, with minimal guidance from more experienced staff.
• Participates in the resolution of problems in more demanding and less familiar situations using precedent and own acquired knowledge.

Decision Making Authority and Responsibility:
• Able to work within a defined role with limited supervision.
• Able to make decisions and solve problems related to a specific discipline/field.
• Establishes credibility with peers and supervisors and makes good use of their time.
• Exercises judgment in making decisions; knows when to seek advice.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, (preferably control systems, chemical or electrical).
• Good written and verbal English language communication skills; good interpersonal skills; demonstrated successful experience working in multicultural project team environment
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years technical experience in control systems discipline including a minimum of five (5) years experience working with an EPC Contractor on a large capital project.
• Experience with large scale distributed control systems and programmable electronic shutdown designs for offshore production facilities such as:
o Distributed Control Systems
o Process Emergency Shutdown Systems
o Fire and Gas Systems
o Flow Metering Systems
o Field sensors and final control elements
• Experience with worldwide suppliers of instrumentation, DCS and other digital control, communications and networked subsystems.
• Experience with contractors, vendors, and implementation subcontractors in instrument
