The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
• The DG3 assurance reviews highlighted the need for specifically identified resources to ensure successful interface & integration management. As such, the primary purpose of this role is to define & implement the interface management systems within the project between the Company subsurface team, the capture and pipeline contractors and the operating site and to ensure systems are in place for successfully integrating the project into base plant operations
• Own & implement the Interface Management Plan, developing the plan to match project phase requirements, including facilitating rollouts & dispute resolution.
• Support project leadership to ensure successful coordination across three main contractors & subsurface engineering interfaces.
• Working with Construction, develop appropriate systems to ensure successful coordination between Engineering, Construction & the Operations CSU team.
• Work with Engineering , Project Group, Turnaround leadership team, and Construction to ensure successful implementation of project turnaround scope and tie ins.
• In partnership with constructors, ensure systems are in place for interface & integration within the project site, including Project group & the turnaround teams.
• Facilitate Operations acceptance of, and input to, the Project facility operating philosophy, including modifications to the existing plants.
• Work with the subsurface team and heavy oil surveillance organization to ensure successful set up and implementation of MMV program
• Supervise & audit the interface & integration procedures and systems
• Develop strong relationships with the key stakeholders for project integration.

Dimensions
• Only Company operated fully integrated Carbon Capture and Sequestration project
• Project is expected to be ~$0.9bn
• Complexity of revamp to the existing Project’s design & operation.
• Design Development during Detailed design needs to be fully integrated across the entire project team – capture to sand face.
• Execution by project team must be fully aligned with Operations, Maintenance, & Turnaround Planning/ Execution.
• Approximately 50 piping tie-ins, including ~ 10 hot taps, to be executed by project resources under Project accountability.
• Complex I&C and electrical tie-ins and interface at project Upgrader

Special Challenges
• Establishing & maintaining effective interface with the key internal & external stakeholders
• Close involvement of the Project licensor for design support to the EPCM
• Ensuring integration of Project CCS systems design, construction, and CCS operations
• Integration of the first pipeline and wells into Upgrader operations
• Integration of the first MMV program into the surveillance organization
• Ensuring proper appreciation of the dense phase CO2 in the integration of the facilities
• First dense phase CO2 ERP for Company

Additional Comments
• Although this assignment begins in Calgary office environment, travel to project and operating sites will be a requirement
• Project is heavily modularized, implementing “3rd Generation” design, with associated significant fabrication shop interfaces created.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Engineering – mechanical or chemical
• Project Engineering / Management experience
• Operations experience and /or execution experience in the brownfield / revamp environment,
• E & P experience in wells and pipelines
• Well developed leadership skills & ability to set direction, motivate people, & achieve objectives
• Strong communication skills
• Strong negotiating skills
• Strategic thinker
• CO2 experience a plus
