The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
The candidate’s role is part of the Interface Management team and would help identify and manage these interfaces in order to prevent impact to either project teams or operations department.
Responsibilities of position:
1. To work with projects’ teams throughout all stages of to:
a. identify and assist both parties company interfaces for:
i. project to project and project to operations
ii. project to Company’s internal departments
b. assist the project team, operations, functional departments and the interface management group to negotiate with each party the details of the interface and timing
c. oversee the management of these interfaces to completion in a timely manner
d. to identify to project teams any interfaces that may put the project execution in jeopardy
2. During the FEED stage of projects to assist the project team in the identification and recording of potential external interfaces between future contractors as an input into project external responsibility matrix.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Role carries no direct accountability for project execution. While this role is an individual contributor role, the ability to work well with project team members and other specialist groups, is essential. Other skills required include:
1. Strong safety focus
2. Strong verbal and written communication skills
3. Good listening skills
4. Strong negotiating and/or mediation skills
5. Good analytical skills
6. Flexible work style and personality and able to work with all types of personalities, both individual and corporate personalities.
7. Ability to work as an individual contributor and as an integral part of a team and to be a diplomat when required.
8, Strong computer skills ( word, excel, power point and workflow systems)
9. Familiarity with project planning processes.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would have 10-20 years of experience, (at least 5 years in Canada), with proven experience in the following roles:
1. 5-8 years in an engineering contractors office
a. as a discipline engineer and ideally as a discipline lead
b. 1-2 years as a field engineering representative at a construction site
2. 3-5 years field construction experience
3. 2 years project engineer in executing projects
4. Oil Sands or other upstream Oil and Gas project experience would be an asset
5. Contract Administration, project planning and scheduling or plant operations experience would be an asset.
