The Company:
A luxury Automotive OEM based in the West Midlands. After continued growth & success there are a number of new exciting engineering projects underway and we currently have requirements for experienced engineering professionals.

The Role:
Current Vehicle Engineering is responsible the engineering and quality of all current production vehicles.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
Engineers are responsible for complete systems on all current vehicle lines, not just individual components. The role has dual functionality with the engineer being responsible for both the engineering elements of the current car as well as Quality and Suppliers. Engineers must therefore be able to:
Containment – Quickly identify and implement effective and robust containments.
Problem resolution – Have a methodical approach to problem solving using PPS, 8D or equivalent
Feedback – Feedback concerns at various forums including CPA, to all levels including directors.
Concern management – Manage all of their open concerns taking the appropriate action to contain and then implement a robust, cost effective permanent corrective action within a given time frame.
DPV / RFT reduction – Provide engineering support to the production lines for containment and problem resolution of build issues caused by design, engineering, production or supplier quality issues.
Parts quality and supplier engineering requests (PPAP / SPAP and SREA Management) – Sign off part quality and Supplier Requests for Engineering Approval following the SPAP / PPAP process.
Engineering changes – Implementing engineering changes, from marking up drawings, liaising with suppliers, understand feasibility, cost, timing, stock obsolescence testing, running line trials and working with Manufacturing Engineering and Production to confirm build process and problem resolution.
Supplier support & investigations – Supplier investigations on and off site.
Setting standards – Update Vehicle Inspection Standards (VIS)
Vehicle Evaluations – Write and carry out complete vehicle evaluations, current and DEU vehicles
Quality History – Pass information on to PD to ensure issues are implemented on future models
Travel – Be willing to travel both within the UK and abroad.
Individual objectives – Manage their own objectives to ensure all KPIs and annual plan targets are met. Process development – Manage own window roles to support department and division process

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree level qualified or equivalent
Experience of practical problem solving (PPS / 8D / G8D / 6 Sigma)
Good general knowledge of the mechanical architecture of a vehicle
Working knowledge of a variety of component manufacturing process
Worked in OE or Tier 1 manufacturing environment (CVE / PVT / Plant Quality / STA)
Experience of dealing with next tier suppliers & working as part of cross functional teams
Chairing meetings and running effective meeting minutes / CCARs & Good communications skills
Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word & Powerpoint)
Full UK driving license
