The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
Reporting to the HSE Lead and to Project Management, the Intermediate Lead will address HSE issues as guided by supervision.

Responsibilities:

- Support the Site Management, Project Management Team and Project HSE Lead.
- Supervise and train subordinates.
- Plan and direct subordinate HSE activities.
- Assure timely investigations, inspections, and reporting of HSE matters.
- Participate in monitoring and controlling HSW standards and applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain records, reports, and documents to meet department, company, and/or regulatory requirements.
- Conduct investigations of project incidents that may result in litigation; obtains and protects collected data.
- Review of Work Execution Plans to ensure that the workforce are properly utilizing the plans in the field to stay in compliance with local regulations and work management systems expectations.
- Support and provide guidance to area management through interpretation of HSW Practices and Procedures, legislation, and regulations to ensure balance between productivity and the safety of team members, sub-contractors, and visitors.
- Maintain liaison with client representatives, company HSE personnel, sub-contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Support project and site safety advisor efforts to advise Contractor of Safety requirements, expectations, and best practices.
- Understand and support efforts to address project safety issues. Advise and inform Project Management and Function on Safety issues, status and metrics.
- Engage project partners in safety strategies through development and delivery of Safety alignment workshops. Collaborate with Project Safety Advisor(s) to ensure alignment of project safety strategy.
- Develop / deliver technical presentations.
- Provide guidance to project and site safety advisors regarding inspections / assessments / audits as required by established processes or by project management.
- Ensure effective safety communications across the Project Team, Contractors, HSE Management Support and other key stakeholders.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Must have at least 5 years experience in a similar role
- Must have some sort of HSE certification
