The Role:
To ensure that Marathon’s Development and Exploration Petro-Technical (PT) assets are operated in a safe and secure manner which provides value to the IPO business unit while maintaining corporate IT standards. The IT Analyst will be based at Marathon’s Aberdeen office and will receive technical guidance from Marathon’s PT teams in Aberdeen and elsewhere. He or she will be a contact for oil and gas Petro- Technical clientele (G&G,RE) which includes supporting desktop, server, storage and backup environments.

Job Activities:
• Performing application integrations (Application functional knowledge), testing and troubleshooting of relevant systems.
• Install, configure and test IT hardware as necessary to address incidents and Service Requests made by the client group.
• Support the PT back-up solution and adhere to the defined standards.
• Provide desk side support (Hardware/Software) on Windows PCs; local & networked printer/plotting and other devices as required.
• Troubleshoot of thin client issues associated with (Citrix, Exceed 3D) etc.
• Providing tier 2/3 level technical support assistance to Customer Support Center and directly to end-users as required.
• Providing advanced technical support to business units on all related desktop applications and desktop/laptop hardware issues.
• Developing and updating as necessary detailed documentation on software configurations, deployment processes and test scripts.
• Implement monitoring procedures to maximize availability and performance of workstations, while meeting defined targets; enforce corporate standards across all windows platforms; manage and maintain corporate antivirus policies
• Maintain updated configuration, support, process and procedure (best practices) documentation.
• Manage and maintain corporate change control policies and procedure.

• Resolving computer system or user related IT issues quickly and effectively.
• The continual changes/improvements/refinements in work procedures demands constant learning and flexibility.
• Improving output by finding quicker methods giving greater productivity.
• Being aware of the varying requirements and deadlines of the customer group.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Familiarisation with appropriate software packages i.e. Landmark (Openworks), Paradigm, Petrel, Eclipse etc.
• Typically has 3 to 5 years of Petro-Technical IT work experience in support of the Oil and Gas industry.
• Good overall understanding of Operation Systems: (Windows – XP, 7, 2003 & 2008) and (Linux – Red Hat, Solaris 8/10). Knowledge of storage and back-up systems.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of the workstation hardware and software products and problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
• Level of experience in configuration and support of thin client services (Citrix, Exceed 3D).
• Be flexible to customer’s needs and ability to meet specific deadlines with solutions.
• Self starter able to produce required work with minimum supervision.
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
