The Company:
Our client a UK based refining and marketing company, have interests in a number of facilities in the United Kingdom, employing around 1000 people throughout the UK and over 33000 worldwide. They have had their presence on Teesside for over 30 years, processing and storing crude oil ready for shipment along with being an established supplier of bulk fuels, including LPG, to the commercial, aviation and marine industries.

The Role:
Purpose:

To manage and co-ordinate the activities that ensure IT Infrastructure & TComms are available 24/7 to Teesside Operations. To enable users to perform their business tasks efficiently, safely and at minimal cost and delay to the Teesside Operations business. To exercise IT governance at a local level on behalf of the wider ConocoPhillips. IT organisation
Primary Function:

Key Safety
• Actively supports the Personal Safety Involvement (PSI) initiative.
• Awareness of the Asset & Operating Integrity site strategy
• Comply with the site responsibility for legislative and operational regulatory compliance and ensuring that the requirements of the COMAH are implemented at the Teesside Operations site
• Adhere to Upstream Health & Safety Executive Excellence Process Safety roles and responsibilities

Core Responsibility
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY
• Following Corporate IT guidelines and processes, coordinating with Norway and Aberdeen/European IT infrastructure and TComms support groups, conduct studies to identify Teesside’s infrastructure and TComms needs, hardware and software requirements, cost and benefits analysis, and develop implementation proposals as appropriate.
• Conduct review of present infrastructure architecture to ensure that the current capacity of the infrastructure can meet current and future business needs. Utilising the European services group, conduct regular review of traffic, system performance and capacity to ensure satisfactory performance Infrastructure and identify needs of enhancements to support changing and future needs of the Teesside business environment. Work with the European infrasturuure support group to closely monitor voice, video, data, servers, storage and backup needs.
• Identify opportunities where the deployment of new technology will yield an cost effective increase in efficiency, productivity and/or safety.
• Participate in planning Infrastructure and TComms Section activities in accordance with department objectives and strategies and global and European IT policy and strategies.
• Provide Infrastructure Services Assistance to the Operations Management in developing both short and long term plan, goals and objectives, and in setting-up networking standards and direction
• Coordinating with European Infrastructure support groups, manage delivery of new infrastructure and TComms technology, i.e. planning, and active involvement in planning, implementing, testing commissioning, to ensure smooth technology deployment in the operating environment and to leverage Regional/Global resources and standards
• Be the “hands and eyes” for local servers’ support by the regional server team in Aberdeen, being able to effect hardware change out as instructed by LIS Groups
• Provide support for procurement of goods and services related to Infrastructure, including preparation of contract Scope of Services, estimate of costs, justifications, etc.
• Provide consultancy and direction on infrastructure related issues in all IT projects
• Maintain the validity of disaster recovery plan for infrastructure
SECONDARY ACCOUNTABILITY
• Work within and contribute to an effective plan of work for the current and planned commitments of the IT group by providing input into the documented work plan and identifying and communicate new and upcoming works requests. In doing so should Understand and be able to assist in the prioritization of work commitments to ensure that a quality service to the customer base is maintained. Work with customer groups to understand business requirements and time scales for delivery, and feed this back into the work plan process.
• Work within and maintain an effective and collaborative team environment by ensuring that any relevant information is effectively communicated within the group. Work as a fully functional, integrated member of the group and assist team members where necessary providing support, advise, expertise, and backup. Participate in relevant regional / Global IT Networks
• Provide “out of hours” support for remote infrastructure monitoring groups on a best endeavours basis

Qualifications/Experiences:
• Degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience
• Professional qualifications as necessary
• Knowledge of Knowledge of IT standards and policies
• 5 + years in a similar support role.
Skills/Training Competences:
• Good troubleshooting skills
• Ability to adapt to new techniques and technologies.
• Proven competence in literacy / numeracy skills
• Interpersonal and Multitasking skills
• Ability and aptitude to take responsibility for personal learning and development to ensure satisfactory progression of skill level.
• Ability to handle an extensive and diverse work load and ability to demonstrate good reporting and communication skills (verbal & written)

Additional Job Capabilities:
• Work in an Oil Processing Plant in restricted areas when required
• Hold a Full UK driving licence and to drive company vehicles where appropriate
