The Company:
A luxury Automotive OEM based in the West Midlands. After continued growth & success there are a number of new exciting engineering projects underway and we currently have requirements for experienced engineering professionals.

The Role:
Managing the company's Infrastructure, ensuring maximum availability of all IT resources.
• Wide Area Network
• Local Area Network
• Data Storage, Backup and Archiving
• Servers, Desktops, and Laptops
• Managing the IT 3rd Line Support, 2nd Line Support and Helpdesk/1st Line Support teams.
• Resourcing and recruiting staff to ensure support levels
• Managing holidays and sickness
• Maintaining staff skill levels through training programmes
• Maintaining a support system 24/7
• Overall Programme Management responsibility for the IT Infrastructure projects and deliverables for all business areas. Coordinating and prioritising resources across the projects to ensure that resource contention is managed and all infrastructure deliverables are met.
• External Supplier management and relationships.
• To ensure that business critical applications are available and work to disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity is not adversely affected
• Manage business critical systems development resource to ensure the business is able to continue to perform to plan & time.
• Ensure that the IT strategy fits in-line with the overall Business strategy
• Understanding and delivering IT solutions in line with the company strategy
• Provide a strategic roadmap for future IT development
• Provide architectural designs and recommendations for implementation
• Ensure that the Infrastructure continues to meet the business needs
• Offer enhancements to increase productivity throughout the business
• Provide support to all IT teams
• Support the various business units in with any Infrastructure requirements
• Provide development and test environments for developers
• Development, management and delivery of Infrastructure Service Level Agreements (SLA’s)
• Responsibility for all areas of IT financial management
• Ensure formal change management control is carried out throughout all IT systems and resources
• To be one of the champions and leaders of change within the entire business
• To adhere to corporate processes and standards
• Implement processes and procedures in line with a standard framework methodology (ITIL / MOF)
• Review and improve current IT Processes

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
• Manage the on-going implementation and support of areas of the IT infrastructure
• Manage any changes to the existing infrastructure
• Manage the resourcing of the support teams, ensuring the correct level of cover at all times
• Provide leadership and active participation where appropriate in business process improvements in order to drive the company forward to meet the Company’s strategy
• Support the delivery of systems solutions that integrate with business processes and standards
• Manage project plans, timescales, budgets/ costs, risks, resources (roles/responsibilities) and decisions to meet the company's business and IT plans
• Ensure the appropriate level of support is provided to the business at all times
• Manage external suppliers, ensuring that SLA’s are met and downtime is kept to an absolute minimum
• Provide a level of escalation to the business
• Provide communication to the business of any scheduled or unscheduled downtime
• Make decisions to improve the infrastructure enabling the business to work in a more efficient manner
• Manage the recruitment process where additional resource is required Control Infrastructure budget to provide the business with the correct level of support whilst remaining cost effective in all areas
• A team of internal and external heads report to the IT Infrastructure Manager
• Infrastructure support analysts
• Helpdesk Analysts
• Infrastructure Project Managers
• Service Providers
• The job demands liaison with Directors and Senior Managers.
• The job demands liaison to all employees within the business
• Business travel nay be required

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• A broad detailed knowledge of motor manufacturing and all business units within the area
• A detailed knowledge of all aspects of the IT infrastructure including:-
• High end server technology
• Microsoft client server technology
• UNIX/Linux knowledge
• IP telephony
• Virtualisation
• A detailed working knowledge of full project lifecycle management using a structured Project Methodology
• An understanding of ITIL practises
• Programme Management skills – managing multiple ongoing inter-dependent projects
• Responsibility for financial management within key programmes/ projects managing software & resource budgets
• Ability to understand, communicate and implement IT strategies in-line with the corporate strategy
• Ability to manage a cross functional team of Project Managers and support staff
• Good interpersonal skills at all levels within and outside the organisation
• Ability to communicate at all levels in some cases to a large audien
