The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
To provide strategic input to the direction of the technical architecture, ensuring a reliable, expandable, secure and cost effective IT platform. To provide technical expertise in order to support and develop the technical infrastructure of the business and ensure that the needed technology resources are available. The job holder will be expected to contribute technical recommendations at a high level and take responsibility for our technical direction. With overall responsibility for a significant portion of the infrastructure and it’s linkage to OEM.
The job holder coordinates with our service providers and is responsible for the handover of the infrastructure to the business or outsourced operations.
Liaising and negotiating with OEM colleagues to ensure company is compatible with group standards where applicable.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES (Maximum of 5 relating to products, services etc.)

1. Incident & Problem Management
• Infrastructure incident management and resolution
• Infrastructure problem management – problem correction and communication
2. Technical Infrastructure Management
• Lead and implement medium to large significant projects to upgrade and enhance the infrastructure
• Implementation and handover to operations of new infrastructure
• Provide technical input to IT projects that will impact the IT Infrastructure
• Create and manage SLA/OLAs for infrastructure services
4. Capacity Management
• License management & Capacity management
4. Change Management
• Maintaining a forward plan of change for Infrastructure components
• Management of releases and change requests
• Implementation of change requests for the test environment as well as the production environment
• Approval of changes to the infrastructure
5. Knowledge Management
• Develop the definition of our Infrastructure standards
• Collection, preparation, documentation and communication of knowledge
• Implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
• Coaching of other team members in relation to processes and skills

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Must be able to comprehend theoretical and technical concepts relating to infrastructure technology and be able to pragmatically apply and implement practical infrastructure solutions.
Very strong experience of similar roles working with Microsoft, IBM, CISCO and other deployed technologies e.g. Windows Server, Unix Server, Active Directory and Exchange.
Experience of DNS, inter-networking and TCP/IP routing, wide area network implementations, local area network technologies and base software components.
A sound and unbiased, high level view of current technology solutions, as well as problem solving and project management abilities are necessary.
The ability, and enthusiasm, to acquire and apply new skills.
Excellent technical problem solving.
Good Project management/coordination abilities.
Ability and desire to generate and implement improvements in infrastructure technology.
Able to work well in a team with good communication and documentation skills.
Able to organise and manage workload to reflect business priorities and allocate their time appropriately.
Awareness of the VW Group SEP or IT PEP, IT Systems Engineering Process.
Ability to convey complex information to a variety of different audiences.



PRACTICAL & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
High level understanding of all major technologies deployed within company e.g.
Microsoft technologies, Windows Server, Active Directory and Exchange
Software components e.g. Operating Systems, DNS, inter-networking and TCP/IP routing, wide area network implementations, local area network technologies.
In depth understanding of IT Security topics and associated company policy.
Project Management knowledge.



QUALIFICATIONS
Degree (or Equivalent) Computing related subject.
ITIL certification (IT Infrastructure Library: a set of comprehensive and inter-related codes of practice, useful to achieving the efficient support and delivery of high quality, cost effective IT services.)
Project Management. (Preferable but not essential).
