With interests in over 20 UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) fields, my Client has one of the most significant exploration and production businesses in the offshore waters of the UK.

The Role:
Position Summary
The Junior Cost Engineer is part of the project team, which is accountable for implementing and maintaining Project Services reporting and analysis on the UKU projects. The role is to support the Project services leads by collating and analysing cost, invoice and Contracts data.

The position reports to the Commercial coordinator, who will arrange appropriate mentoring and support. The position involves access to information of a somewhat confidential nature, so absolute discretion must be assured.

Key Accountabilities
Working with PBDU project managers, project team members and other cost engineers, prepare and operate in-house overall cost control systems and cost data.

Assist in the production of accurate and timely project cost reports, verifying cost performance against plan, and identifying areas of potential budget overrun requiring corrective action.

Input expenditure data for the project monthly report; assist in monthly report preparation and ‘ProSpace’ updating.

To provide a detailed cost and man-hour tracking analysis of the Project and to reconcile with Timesheets, Invoices and records. To advise the Project Controls Lead of any discrepancies, so that they may be resolved in an auditable manner.

Under the guidance of the senior project controls team members, to maintain records regarding the PMT in such a way that that they may be used to support forecasting and estimating.
Support internal and partners’ project cost reviews and approvals processes

To liaise with the Contractors to obtain cost information in an agreed format. To provide the necessary information to the HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) Manager, so that Monthly HSE Statistics can be compiled.

To assist the C&P Manager in preparation of Project Purchase Orders in the SAP accounting and control system and maintenance of the associated Purchase Order Registers.

Working under the supervision of the Senior Cost Engineer, to verify supplier invoices to confirm the value of work done prior to the invoice being released for payment.

Under the direction of the Project Controls Lead, to assist with preparation of the Monthly Status Reports and associated Presentations.

To provide focal point assistance to the UKU Project teams on the Corporate reporting system (Prospace).

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Educated to Highers Level or equivalent in appropriate commercial subjects, the successful candidate will demonstrate excellent numeracy.

The position requires fluency in English, good communications skills, both written and oral, with the ability to challenge others in a constructive manner.

Good Skills in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint are vital, and a proven track record of report preparation and integrated graphics would be an asset.

Experience in the Oil and Gas Industry would be a distinct advantage, but five years relevant work experience should be demonstrated. Less experience may be considered for an exceptionally qualified candidate.

The Project Controls Group requires an effective team player with a pro-active and flexible attitude, and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
