The Company:
Our Client is an Oil & Gas Operating Company

The Role:

The primary responsibilities of this position are to assist in hosting and support Joint Venture (partner) audits for all Client-operated domestic E&P assets. Additionally, the candidate will assist in month end accounting for several small international locations with a small volume of transactions. This job requires a good understanding of COPAS guidelines and will be based in Houston.

A successful candidate for this position will have a sound understanding of joint venture oil & gas accounting, good communication and technical skills, high standards of excellence and attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate and work closely with other JV accounting support.


1) Host JV partner audits in Houston. This includes proving the applicable information to partners prior to the start of field work, liaise with the auditors during the audit and preparing the appropriate response to the audit requests/findings.
2) Assist JV accounting with month end accounting for several international locations that have little or no current activity.
3) Liaise with various Business Units personnel to resolve historical audit issues and bring to closure.
4) Liaise with Global Transfer Pricing and Cost Analysis (GTPCA) regarding global allocations and time-writing policies to ensure optimization of partner billings, cost recoverability, and tax deductibility.
5) Liaise with JV accounting personnel to improve billings through local office allocations.
6) Satisfy various ad-hoc requests and perform special project work as required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related Business field required
• Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant certification is a plus

• 5-10 plus years of oil & gas accounting experience
• 5 plus years of audit related experience

• Strong oil & gas accounting skills
• Strong knowledge of the Council of Petroleum Accountants Society (COPAS) guidelines
• Good understanding of E&P operations
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong computer skills, including SAP, Excel, and Word
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills – ability to work effectively with all levels; good team player; ability to exhibit energy, enthusiasm, and a positive outlook.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong service delivery skills. Consistently meets deadlines.
