Our major Oil & Gas Client is in need of a Lab Technician in Houston, Texas.

The Role:
R&D Pilot Plant Analytical Lab Technician - Houston, TX
As a process skill group which supports a very broad customer base, the technical support staff is uniquely positioned to influence/impact the development of innovative new process technology. Support staff at this level have an important role in the construction, operation, trouble-shooting, and maintenance of lab and pilot plant facilities for a variety of R&D and technical service projects supporting Client and partner refineries and must, therefore be highly versatile in their skills and interests. Primary responsibility of this particular position is the operation and maintenance of the FCC group’s analytical equipment and to act as liaison with the site analytical department. Additional duties as requested to fulfill the objectives of the FCC R&D team.
• Operation and maintenance of the FCC R&D team’s analytical equipment in support of a full, broadly agreed experimental program against agreed timing and deadlines
• Data entry into the pilot plant database; detailed and accurate record keeping of experiments
• Maintain the team’s entries into the site LIMS system, sample management, liaise with site analytical department
• Reactor feed and catalyst loading/unloading, logging in of samples.
• Managing large inventory of FCC feeds and catalysts in the storage area
• Involved in design, construction and commissioning of large and complicated experimental units
• Multi tasking and interfacing with all the maintenance disciplines, including analytical equipment, to accomplish any modifications in the units
• Safe operations including participation in audits, management of chemicals, upkeep of facilities, Management of Change (MOC) and other HSSE related activities
• Active member of the TDSA HSSE lab safety team activities
• Implement improvements related to operation and expansion of the pilot plant facilities
• Working effectively across multiple businesses and processes and managing changing priorities

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• AS degree in technology/science + minimum of 4 years of lab or pilot plant experience, OR
• High School / GED + minimum of 8 years of lab or pilot plant operation experience
• Analytical instrumentation use and maintenance experience required (5890/6890 gas chromatography, LECO analyzers, etc.)
• Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) experience beneficial
• Must demonstrate a high degree of safety consciousness
• Basic laboratory safety skills (Management of change procedures, MSDS system, chemical storage, waste disposal, proper handling of toxic or hazardous chemicals)
• Experience in operation and maintenance of large pilot units and laboratory reactors a plus
• Good mechanical aptitude and excellent troubleshooting & problem solving skills
• Basic computer skills, including MS office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Ability to lift loads of up to 44 lbs (20 Kg)
