The Company:
Our major Oil & Gas Client is in need of 3 Laboratory Technicians in Houston, Texas.

The Role:
• Conducting laboratory reactor (autoclave/pilot) testing of varying hydrocarbons feeds and catalysts for an ongoing R&D program.

Key Accountabilities
• Safe laboratory operation including participation in Management of Change procedures, safe reactor operations, management of chemicals, and laboratory housekeeping.
• Install, operate and maintain laboratory reactors and other ancillary laboratory equipment.
• Reactor loading/unloading, and unit start-up and shutdown.
• Collection and analysis of product samples.
• Data entry into unit spreadsheet.
• Troubleshoot reactor and equipment operational problems.
• Demonstrate initiative by suggesting and implementing lab improvement projects through application of new techniques or equipment.
• Occasional unscheduled overtime may be necessary.
• Analysis of results; posting of results; detailed and accurate record keeping of experiments.
• Interface with program scientists and engineers to plan, execute experiments and discuss results.
• Handling of chemical samples.
• Operation and maintenance of chemical laboratory equipment, including various analytical instruments.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and procedures, and work with complicated automated systems.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Must demonstrate a high degree of safety consciousness. Basic safety skills include: MSDS awareness, Management of Change procedures, chemical storage, waste disposal, proper handling of toxic or hazardous materials and safe reactor operations.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the US.
• Associates degree or equivalent in chemistry or chemical technology preferred.
• Experience in chemical technology in a R&D laboratory setting is a plus.
• Comfortable working independently in a hazardous environment.
• Experience with operation of GC’s and related software is a plus.
• Experience with operation of autoclaves or pilot reactors is a plus.
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment with good communication skills.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and multi-tasking.
