The Company:
A major oil and gas operator

The Role:
•Responsible for conducting laboratory testing for a variety of Refining, Petrochemical and Environmental Catalysis R&D and Technical Service projects.
•Safe laboratory operation including participation in safety audits, management of chemicals, and upkeep of facilities.
•Operation, maintenance and repair of laboratory scale catalyst testing units, including high throughput micro-reactor units, fixed and/or fluidized bed reactors, autoclave reactors and intermediate scale pilot plant reactors.
•Operation and maintenance of analytical equipment, especially gas chromatographs.
•Accurate collection and recording of experimental results.
•Demonstrate initiative by suggesting and implementing lab improvement projects through application of new experimental techniques or laboratory equipment.
•Participate in laboratory off-hours call-out rotation. Occasional unscheduled overtime may be necessary.
•Multi-tasking and interfacing with all the maintenance disciplines to accomplish facilities modifications.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•An Associate degree or equivalent in chemistry, chemical technology, physical science or process instrumentation/control and three (3) or more years of catalyst reactor testing or pilot plant operations experience.
•Basic laboratory safety skills (Management of Change procedures, MSDS system, chemical storage, waste disposal, proper handling of toxic or hazardous chemicals). Must demonstrate a high degree of safety consciousness.
•Basic analytical instrumentation (e.g. gas chromatograph) use and maintenance experience.
•Ability to independently translate general information and instructions into specific work activities.
•Ability to work well with others in a team environment to deliver results.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
•Basic statistical process control and quality assurance knowledge desirable but not mandatory.
•Digital process control system experience, including reactor system programming, is desirable but not mandatory.
•Knowledge of basic wet chemistry techniques and catalyst synthesis procedures desirable but not mandatory.
