The Company:
Our client, an oil and gas company, seeks a Land Administration Manager to join their team here in Houston!

The Role:
Position Summary:
This newly created contract role will establish the corporate administrative land data records for US L48, including implementation and management of the L48 data systems software. This position is responsible for lease records, division orders, and the integrated functioning of all land systems.
This role will plan, organize and direct assigned staff, plan and prioritize work assignments to effectively complete all L48 corporate and local management reporting.

Key Accountabilities:
• Consults with the Land Director to establish land data analysis objectives and the standards of performance for corporate land staff.
• Responsible for the implementation of the newly-selected land management system, including training in-function and communications cross-functionally.
• Leads the communications and information workflow, most directly with Finance, Operations, IT, Reservoir Engineering and Group headquarters to ensure all land systems are properly implemented and managed and to obtain vital land data information such as payout tracking, daily operations reports, regulatory filings, reserves mapping, etc.
• Reviews business processes to ensure strategic planning and portfolio optimization and corporate data compliance and reporting.
• Ensures expedient and accurate forecasting of lease and contracts costs and obligations and establishes JIB/Revenue setups/changes in an auditable manner.
• Ensures data controls and documents integrated risk management processes and procedures.
• Recommends and maintains the L48 records-retention policies and procedures.
• Ensures all land staff are properly trained and motivated to maximize usage of all land systems to their full potential. Facilitates the cascade of land data to client.
• Engages with the joint venture partner on a frequent basis to ensure the company’s assets are accurately and completely represented in an electronic data base that is accessible in real-time.
• Leads in educating the vital contribution of ownership data to the business matrix of the company and serve as an ambassador for US Land to all parties

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Experience Needed:
• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in oil & gas lease administration, including real property titles, division of interest setup, lease & contracts analysis, database report-writing and mapping.
• Experience working within a joint venture environment is preferred.
• Experience in selecting & implementing a software system is essential. Hands-on knowledge with leading software providers such as Quorum, P2 or Excalibur is preferred.
• Demonstrable experience in project management, including external software providers and internal functional departments, most particularly Finance & IT.
• Demonstrable experience with an early-stage land department, where creative thinking and industry knowledge to establish best practices in land data management are keys to success. Must have experience meeting corporate land management reporting deadlines.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Knowledge, Languages, Skills, and Attributes
• Petroleum/Energy Land Management Degree or equivalent required.
• SuperUser with Microsoft Office 2010.
• Proficient in ESRI ArcView, Documentum or other content management software.
• Literate with enterprise software systems such as SAP and interface with land systems software.
• Demonstrated organizational, assimilation & synthesis skillsets.
• Ability to explain to non-land professionals the US Land ownership distinction in a clear and understandable manner and motivated to raise the profile of land reporting within the corporate structure of the Company.
• Possesses traits of accuracy, precision, and comprehensive thinking in data management.
• Able to influence in a positive, pragmatic manner, both directly and remotely.
• Enjoys cultivating and managing key relationships.
• Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
