The Role:
The Land Advisor will have primary accountability for the preparation of locations for an onshore project in a fast paced unconventional environment, and will be responsible for all land related activities from “leasing to division order”. The Land Advisor will also be responsible to provide strategic analysis and direction in connection with acreage acquisitions, divestitures, and trades. The role may include a significant amount of interaction with the asset manager and senior leaders on development planning in connection with the asset. The position is a key role within Hess and requires superior technical skills gained within an unconventional operated asset. Detailed knowledge and experience in a broad arrange of basic land skills are essential, including title, leasing, permitting and project management.

Roles and Responsibilities

•Prepare drilling locations: provide analysis of open tracts and acquire oil and gas leases, title curative, and negotiate pooling, unitization surface, and other necessary agreements.
•Facilitate drafting of agreements in connection with all land activities, including oil and gas leases, data trade, confidentiality, farmout, joint operating, and other similar agreements.
•Review title opinions and direct title curative or other activities as needed.
•Advise and direct activities of other land personnel in other locations, including supervision of a budget relating to these activities.
•Responsible for delivery of accurate, complete information to lease, contract and division order counterparts. Review and analyze all aspects of project and be familiar with legal and regulatory issues.
•Actively seek ways to improve efficiency of work processes and policies.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•PROJECT MANAGEMENT - Ability to manage multiple deadlines and requirements of multiple internal and external customers and stakeholders, Must have ability to manage project objectives, project time lines and success criteria.

•NEGOTIATION – Ability to analyze and synthesize project objectives and key contractual issues. Effective at understanding and managing the negotiation process, including implementation of the contract. Applies different negotiating styles, tactics and strategies.

•CONTRACTS - Summarizes and communicates key land and legal issues and concepts, including lease terms, local legal and regulatory regimes, legal precedents, and elements of contract law. Detailed working knowledge of E&P contracts. Translates knowledge of contracts into business risk and value assessments.

•INFLUENCING - Influences effectively with both internal and external partners, Develops appropriate influencing strategies and styles to overcome blockages. Can assert ideas persuasively, g
