The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
This is a management role within Production Planning responsible for an operational area within the Production Planning Launch Team with responsibility for Quality, Budgetary Control, Product Delivery and Health & Safety procedures.
In this role, the Manager is responsible for confirming the manufacturing process, facilities and tooling for all new models and guiding the seamless introduction of all project and model year vehicles from prototype build phase to start of production (+ 90 days) for their particular area of the vehicle aligned to operations associated with Final Assembly and relevant sub assembly product integration.
They lead the development and training of the production teams to ensure appropriate skills for future products / processes in line with the cycle plan/ pre series build phases and work at an operational level across the organisation to ensure the Manufacturing Strategy will deliver new product in accordance with the Product Emergence Process (PEP) through gateway deliverables & processes aligned to Manufacturing.

1. Project Launch Planning

a. Define launch build activities and timing for relevant element of vehicle through pre-SOP build phases
b. Define resource requirements for relevant element of vehicle to support launch build activities through pre-SOP build phases
c. Manage continuous improvement activities within the technology and develop ideas for improvements into subsequent launch programmes
d. Responsible for the Production System / Process to ensure both internal & external audit compliance (TUV & TS16949)

2. Launch Budget Control

a. Coordinate operational budget planning in line with project vehicle delivery requirements
b. Coordinate and control Launch team costs in line with project budget assumptions

3. Product Delivery

a. Liaison with all relevant business departments on all associated launch activities (primary relationships include, Production, Quality, Engineering, Project Management, Logistics)
b. Responsible for the delivery of relevant element of vehicle into production in line with Project and Production targets, including Audit, Right First Time (RFT) & Defects Per Vehicle (DPV) and HPC
c. Identification through the respective build phases of all issues that impact on the successful launch of the product into production and, support of the recognised problem management system (VDS) in the resolution of these concerns
d. Utilisation of business systems (BOM ; TEVON ; AVON ; Permit ; PZR ; KVS) to enable the successful launch of products into production
e. Ensure the delivery of vehicles to agreed schedules to support the vehicle usage plans (including test, validation and release)

Launch Organisation

a. Management of seconded launch team colleagues including their induction, training and ways of working to ensure a controlled build methodology throughout the relevant pre SOP build phases
b. Responsible for ensuring that all primary and secondary production colleagues are trained in their relevant processes to quality standards and takt in preparation for launch
c. Responsible for the management of all seconded launch colleagues in line with business policies and procedures, including personal development (MBO, succession planning)
d. Responsible for ensuring the functional area operates within site Health & Safety policies & procedures

a. Project Management

b. Delivery of all launch tasks in accordance with PEP48 deliverables / SIPOC’s / milestones
c. Coordination of shift meetings and status reporting into the relevant business departments through the respective build phases
d. Work in close conjunction with other areas of production planning (facilities and process & feasibility) to ensure a consolidated approach and the continuous development of effective and efficient ways of working

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
a. Knowledge of product assembly, process design, facilities & standardised work methodology.
b. Demonstrable experience working at a Management level within a Manufacturing or Production environment.
c. Has experience of leading a team through at least one new model launch.
d. Good working knowledge / experience of Group processes.
e. Experience in the application of Continuous Improvement & problem solving tools & techniques.

f. Extensive Knowledge of Vehicle Build Processes
