The Company:
Our client is a nuclear specialist, covering both civilian and defence sectors, across the complete lifecycle from new build, through operations and maintenance, to final decommissioning and waste management.

The Role:
The Lead CE&I Engineer is principally a hands-on design based role with a degree of team leadership within discipline. The Lead EC&I Engineer can be responsible for delivering a package of work within a project within their discipline. Frequent liaison with other disciplines in the design team and the client would be expected. Lead EC&I Engineers are the main interface between senior management and hands-on design.

Elements of the role would include:
- Development of designs to satisfy technical specifications
- Acoustic monitoring
- Safety system design
- Prepare supporting design calculations to substantiate design
- Check design calculations of designers and other engineers within the team
- Actively contribute to design reviews, safety reviews (Risk Assessments and HAZOP’s) from technical standpoint
- Preparation of technical specifications in liaison with client and project team
- Produce design documentation throughout the design process including scope of works, method statements, risk assessments, technical files and other technical documentation to comply with design standards, safety legislation/regulatory requirements and the needs of the client
- Prepare installation, commissioning and operating documents
- Planning and allocation of workload to other members of design team within discipline in order to deliver package of work
- Management of sub-contractors providing niche services to the design

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The Lead CE&I Engineer will:
- have experience of working in the nuclear industry
- be qualified to HNC level in a relevant discipline.
- hold a full UK drivers licence as travelling between offices may be required.
- be able to demonstrate competence gained in a design delivery position
- have experience gained in a similar position ideally from a highly regulated industry. This could be from but is not limited to Defence, Pharmaceutical, Oil & Gas or Food
- hold technical design experience in EC&I or EC&A (this will include conceptual design and design calculations)
- have a sound understanding of 16th edition wiring regulations

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Ideally candidates for the Lead CE&I Engineer role will be a Chartered Engineer. It would be a distinct advantage to hold experience of electrical design including cabling, sizing, control panel design, system design, power supply and distribution etc
