The Company:
Our client is a leading International EPC/M organisation who is engaged in some of the worlds largest and most technically challenging Oil & Gas projects currently under execution.

The Role:
We are currently sourcing a Lead Civil & Structural Engineer to join the North West Office on a Staff Basis. Initially for a detailed design of a Chemical Plant located in the Middle East.

Our Customer has completed the FEED stage of the Chemical Plant and is looking to move from FEED into detailed design. The project will be workshared from Manchester to 2 other global Offices.

The candidate will be a Lead Civil & Structural Engineer with a proven track record in detailed design of chemical plants, Middle East experience and workshare with High Value Engineering Centres (HVEC).

Good technical knowledge, communication and presentation skills are essential. Some business trip travel to Middle East and Asia will be required.

The individual able to lead and manage the project Civil, Structural, Architectural and HVAC engineering design team.

Core Responsibilities:
To undertake Civil & Structural engineering design work with full regard to safety both in design detail and engineering design execution
To carry out design work in compliance with the national, state and client asset codes & standards.
To engineer all design work in line with the Process QA manual and procedures.
To be innovative in design work with due regard to minimisation of cost whilst maintaining technical integrity
To undertake all work within the estimated man hour budget and within schedule
To keep all project documentation in a state of readiness for Audit purposes.
To work in an effective manner within a multidiscipline engineering team and embedded Customer.

Specific Accountabilities:
To provide definition of the Civil & Structural engineering work in the Project, design approach or criteria by skill and experience as directed by the Chief Civil and Structural Engineer.
To clearly understand the Codes and Standards applicable to the work carried out and raise deviations where necessary
Estimate man hours for project and changes.
Responsible for maintaining work progress (budget, schedule) and raising change documentation where necessary.
Supervision of technical detail, budget and schedule of engineering design in Project.
Liaison with client and manage HVEC scope, vendors and outside parties in a professional manner
Where requested to undertake technical focal point duties
To plan man hour budgets and schedules for all Projects within the focal point area of responsibility.
To manage all resources allocated to the focal point area of responsibility (both technically and by discipline specific project controls)
To liaise with the equivalent Customer focal point on technical and engineering matters on a regular basis
Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the Project.
Safety – Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the Project. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering, Chartered Engineer – preferred (Mandatory if no degree).
Must have Substantial Extensive Experience in discipline
Significant experience in Chemical Plant or similar EPC Design Projects.
Proven track record engineering design.
Experience of projects in the Middle East.
Experience of US Design Codes.
Excellent technical communication and coordination skills.
Lead experience in a multidiscipline environment.
